Harold Ford - Don Quixote in a three-piece

The polls are our friends, Harold.

Harold Ford, Man of La Mancha. His campaign has been tilting at windmills for a while now, and now we have this from Tennessee's Chatanooga.com. His enemy is the pollster.

“Don’t believe those polls telling you that we don’t have a chance,” Rep. Harold Ford Jr. told the hundreds of clapping, cheering supporters who packed Bessie Smith Hall on Sunday night, during his final round of appearances before Tuesday’s election.

Rep. Ford said the latest polls – due to be released Monday by USA Today and Rasmussen Polls – show that he and former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker, the Republican nominee, are running neck and neck in their race for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist.

I don't like the polls either, Representative Ford, but the way they've been breaking in your race against Republican Bob Corker is one of several notable exceptions.

The latest USA Today/Gallup shows Corker beating Ford, 49-percent to 46-percent. The previous such poll, from last month, had Ford crushing Corker, 50-45.

The latest Rasmussen puts Corker's lead at four points, 51-percent to 47-percent. That's almost unchanged from a week ago. (This poll also showed that more Tennesseans, by a five point margin, would prefer to have the GOP running the Senate than the Dems.)

The latest Mason-Dixon Tennessee poll shows Corker leading Ford, 50-38 percent, among 625 likely voters. (The last Mason-Dixon put Corker up by only two, 45-43.) Ford is challenging that one, of course:

Ford changed his campaign schedule Saturday to fly from Knoxville back to Memphis to condemn the poll and encourage supporters.

Tilting.

Don’t let false reports that his opponent is way ahead in the polls discourage you from voting, Rep. Ford and a chorus of other speakers told the crowd. If you didn’t vote early, then make sure you get out and vote on Tuesday. And make sure all your friends vote, too.

Tilting.

And some bad theology:

Rep. Ford said one of his favorites is the young man who came up to him recently and said he’d just seen another ad for Ford’s multi-millionaire opponent – former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker – on TV.

“He says, ‘I did this’ and ‘I did that,’” the exasperated man told Rep. Ford.

“I want to say, ‘Mr. Corker, even Jesus had disciples. And if He had to have help, then I know you couldn’t have done all those things you take credit for all by yourself.’”

Thump. Darn lance, anyway.

Ford will lose and I believe it's because the majority can see him for the snakeoil salesman that he is, every time I see him being interviewed I feel the need to shower afterwards.

Peace through superior fire power:)

Ford is losing and will lose but he's not going to say that before the election. Look at those on this side are are trying to find any silver linings in the PA and OH senate races. Sorry. Santorum and DeWine are done. Burns might eke out a win and Talent has a good shot depending on how big the "yes" vote on the stem cell issue is. If the "yes" vote in MO is over 65%, Talent is in real trouble.
