[UPDATE:] Senate Republicans were able to block cloture and effectively kill the "card check" bill.
Remember, the "Employee Free Choice Act" denies employees the right to vote for or against unionizing by secret ballot.

Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!! A defeat for totalitarian, strong-arm, bullying criminals.
And also for the Unions.
Good job, Republicans. Once in awhile, you do us proud.
It's war -- so when can we start shooting back at the enemy Democrats?
Is there anyone who can watch the little snippet of Hillary at the end of the Youtube clip and remotely imagine her being President. My god, she is so unlikable. Such a shrill, cranky communicator- the exact opposite of her 'husband.'
I would love to be an RNC staffer pouring over her stump speech archive footage to put together campaign ads. It would be a field day.
If you think Hillary was shrill and unlikable in that clip, then you have not heard many of her speeches. She is fine when she is just talking. Where she really comes across very poorly is when she gets exciting and raises her voice. The more excited and animated, the worse is gets. She really has a very poor campaign style about her, and that is not good when you are campaigning for POTUS. All those rallies are taped and will be outstanding campaign commercials and a huge windfall for talk radio. By the end of the campaign, people will be laughing at her, like Al Gore and John Kerry before her. Al Gore was stiff and unlikable, ditto with Kerry. We would all like to say that people vote for the issue but that is not reality. Reagan was brilliant but also a very likeable person. Bush I was so so but far more likeable than Dukakis. Clinton came across as friendly and happy, unlike Bush I and Dole.
There certainly are other factors in each election, such as Nixon taint in the 70's, the Cold war in the 80's and the economy in the 90's and really all the time. But for someone to be as visible as the POTUS is, people want to like that person. Other than Clinton, look at the D's nominees. Most of them were elitist and arrogant, just like Hillary. I don't think Obama has a chance against the Clinton network that has been set up since '92 but he is definitely a better national candidate. An arrogant, northeast liberal where have we seen that?? '88, '04 and soon to be '08.

As tempting as the idea of taking down the queen of "smarter than thou" might seem, the "poring over
This would be a perfect job for a bulemic - no more having to shove your fingers down your throat.

that the vote was completely along party lines. Well that is with the exception of Snarlin' Arlen Spector. What the heck goes through that mans head. For gosh sakes, even Snowe voted against it.
They've outlived their usefulness in our country.
it's rather obvious that when Ford GM and Chrysler can't afford to build vehicles in the USA, but the Japanese, Koreans and Germans are BUILDING plants here, the Unions are the obvious difference.
When my ancestors were working 12 hour days, 6 days a week in unsafe and dark Steel Mills in western NY, with almost no worker protection, they NEEDED a Union. What do you need them for now?
OSHA takes care of worker safety issues, ERISA takes care of insurance issues, we have Workmens'Compensation and Employment Security agencies.
The ONLY thing a Union is for these days is to contribute money to Political Candidates.
When Toyota and Honda offer employees 16 odd dollars an hour to start, Health benefits more than comparable to Union Shops, and a NO LAYOFF GUARANTEE--With NO UNION DUES TO PAY, what happens? People in West Virginia drive 2 hours ONE WAY to make those wages. That Toyota Transmission Plant could have been built in my Hometown of Buffalo, NY---But the UAW would have caused too many problems. So they built it in Buffalo, WEST VIRGINIA instead. And the morons up their cling to their unions like a deck chair from the Titanic. They just don't get it. Neither do the Unions. So the only thing they can do is come up with some garbage like this. Pathetic.

grown and unions by then were totally obsolete [and of course compulsorty] and a drag on profits. For that and other reasons, the company I worked for tanked and went virtually belly-up, as the Big Three auto companies are about to do today.

THE DEMOCRAT'S REGRESSION AGENDA
1. You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread by lack of Federal funding. 2. You have to believe that the school system that can't teach a fourth grader how to read is some how the best qualified to teach those same children all about sex. 3. You have to believe that guns, in the hands of law abiding Americans, are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese communists. 4. You have to believe there was no art before Federal funding. 5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate, and more affected by Americans driving SUVs. 6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural. 7. You have to be against capital punishment but support abortion on demand. 8. You have to believe that business creates oppression and governments create prosperity. 9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony activists from Seattle do. 10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it. 11. You have to believe that the U.S. Military, not evil and tyrannical regimes, start wars. 12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
Even though we have garbage like the immigration bill happening, our party stil is the right one.
Of course that doesn't mean that reps and senators voting for the immigration bill couldn't use a vacation from political office.

who voted for the immigration bill. They're just clones of the Dems. We'd be no worse off without them.
Jon Kyl and Kit Bond are good for nothing and deserve to be deported to Cuba, where they will feel more at home, ideologically.

Its us or the Democrats ?
If you don't agree with us you aren't interested in whats best for the country ?
If you don't support the bill your a bigot ?
The party is having a really hard time communicating with those that desperately want to support it. That needs to change.

It would do you well to take into consideration a couple of things:
1. Sarcasm is not usually meant to be taken literally.
2. I never said or implied anything that deserved the last two questions and I frankly resent the implication that I did. As you well know, my boss and I take a frequent pounding on this board and that's the first time I've ever said a thing like that, but it's true.
3. I'm the one trying to make the point that there's a measurable difference between Jon Kyl and Arlen Specter, here, and it's *your* side that's forgetting that. The fact that I am *also* making the point (at the same time!) that there's a measurable difference between Jon Kyl and Russ Feingold doesn't hinder my ability to speak clearly, I don't think.

as you had the misfortune to be in its way. Kyll has had a good run but with this he can destroy it all and more.
You have been head and shoulders above the other people who have come to this site communicating their employers views. I'll say this as well you have done considerably better than those that given their positions should have done much better.
I am quite wired on the immigration bill. Not just because of the substance of the bill. (Vile as it is) The way this bill is going forward is a slap in the face. It was made in the darkness. Its creators have tried to sneak it past the safeguards our form of government provides. They have done this over the legitimate objections of the populace. Finally dissent has been met with name calling.
If the President said we have to go to war but because of security concerns we can't give you all the details till later, I would say fine. You were elected to do just that.
If congress were to pass a bill that would hurt me personally but would be for the security of the country, result in our having a freeer society, or actually shrink the government I would be for it. I can name several provisions that I feel should be passed that would personally damage me. (medicare reform, tort simplification, not mandating new data processing requirements for doctors offices) are all things that if passed will hurt me but I support.
So when this bill comes forward, from its perversion of the process pushing its garbage. I get wired.
I can't see much difference between Kyll or Specter if they vote yes to allow our government to be subverted, and one to be put over on the people.
The party is having a really hard time communicating with those that desperately want to support it. That needs to change.
This is not directed at you specifically. It is also purely descriptive. If the party doesn't do something to reconnect with those that really want to support them, its done. Expect permanent 50-75 vote majorities in the house and 13-18 vote majorities in the senate.

if they would have committed to do the same on Amnesty and even the President is calling it that today http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2007/06/bush-calls-immi.html LaRaza and business have won this round it is time to move on to the next cloture vote "lets roll"
