This is comedy gold:
And thanks to John Edwards. But for his poor decision making, we would not have the opportunity to subject ourselves to this.

It's not funny. Not that the blog isn't retarded, but the video is just as over the top.
That could of been Jon Stewart and it still wouldn't have been funny.
...but I see Lisa Kudrow bringing the part to life. Or maybe Shelley (Long or Duvall--take your pick).
that there are no conservative bloggers who curse or express opinions outside the mainstream in a forceful manner. This whole fiasco will end up biting us in the behind.
If some republican politician is stupid enough to hire the more extreme freepers as a consultant. But that is not likely to happen. I think its pretty funny.

that liberals won't find a way to make reasoned conservative bloggers sound crazy? They will henpeck posts and we will have no way to combat them, because we did the same thing. This whole attack makes me uncomfortable because it could so easily be turned upon us.
there is nothing stopping them fro doing that now. The fact is that there are extremist on both sides, but there are many many more of them right now on the left, and they are arguably nastier. I don't mind if someone makes fun of a hate filled right wing extremist, I don't like them much either.

But the very man leading the charge against Marcotte, William Donohue has said this in the past:
Who really cares what Hollywood thinks? All these hacks come out there. Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. It's not a secret, okay?
While the statement wouldn't ruffle any feathers here, it could certainly be considered an outside of the mainstream view of hollywood. Not to mention the uncomfortable references to "Jews running hollywood".
he is not on anyone's campaign staff. He is the executive director of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights. It is his job to find anti-Catholicism wherever it exists or doesn't exist. He is parallel to Abe Foxman of the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith. Foxman is also not a blogger or on a campaign staff.
If you can't understand the difference between the executive director of an advocacy group and being the online media rep for a presidential campaign I don't know what more you can add to this discussion.
But if you can't see the damage that stories like this do in general to bloggers everywhere, I am not sure you can appreciate my point.
is not a blogger, no I can't see how stories like this damage bloggers. And as I don't engage in mindless profanity in my posts, I don't see how Marcotte hurts me.
It may be unfortunate that Donahue went to the Jewish card. but he was being baited. the whole thing dissolved into a shouting match, and he was called an Ignorant Peasant by some Rabbi.
This is a bone of contention to me because I hate anti-antisemitism, but at the same time it is absolutely true that Jewish people have a very large part of the entertainment industry. And it is foolish to deny it.
I do not see anything sinister about it, in fact it is natural considering that Jewish entrepreneurs like Samuel Goldwyn began the motion picture industry. I just do not understand why they have to be so defensive about it.

Wanted to have their views known, it might have been good not to delete all 27 responses from A. Marcotte's blog over at Participate.net.
Don't expect anyone to take them seriously now, for pete's sake. They could have just left them there.
Who believe in vast conspiracies.
Yes it does ruffle feathers here.

That nobody knows what Amanda Marcotte or anyone at Participate.net said over the last year or so, because all of the comments in the thread that Marcotte started during her discussion of the Duke rape case have been *summarily deleted.* Vaporized. Taken off the internet. Removed from public view. Never again to be seen. (?)
You can read more about that continuing vanishing act here.
What does it say about Edwards that he kept these hatemongers on his payroll? I'll tell you what this story shows. Left-wing politicians will keep racists, bigots and other hatemongers on the payroll until the pressure becomes too great. It's a double standard that must end this election cycle, since Republicans are expected to sack someone over mere allegations of such behavior.
As to the blogosphere question, what does it say about Edwards' campaign that these two either weren't vetted or their rants were ignored? And as someone pointed out, the Left would have used this tactic on Republicans if this story never emerged. And as to who has pushed this story, it is absurd automatically to assume it was from the Right, although that would be perfectly legitimate. Edwards' Democratic primary opponents certainly haven't suffered, have they?

I don't expect we'll see Michelle do a follow-up that includes Amanda's comments further down on that page.
I took the liberty the other day of downloading all of Amanda Marcotte's archives from Mouse Words dating back to 2004.
Almost 8 megabytes of pure Amanda, in encapsulated and searchable form, before she went to Pandagon or Participate.net. It's a gripping read. Anyone who wants a copy can contact the editors of this site and ask them to contact me. Or you can just go and read it all yourself, here.
That even with all the evidence and even with all the hue and cry from Left, Right and Center about Amanda Marcotte, John Edwards is not going to fire her. I'll guarantee that he won't, as a matter of fact.
The reason is that deep down inside, John Edwards picked her because he wants to be her savior. He wants to bring her inside the organization and gradually take the terribly rough edges off of her, and teach her that not all men are bad. He wants to be her GoDaddy.
And for that simple reason, plus a lot of other, more complicated ones, I don't think he'll take her off the campaign. Watch.
a Monica moment? well he picked the right sort of skank for it.

I'm not going to say she's a "skank" or call her names. But I think that she's a particularly fierce, thoroughly indoctrinated breed of academic feminist, and that John Edwards wants to save her by showing her how magnanimous and receptive to her ideas he is, and giving her a prominent place in his Presidential campaign. At the very least, he wants women like her on his side instead of against him. So he's going to keep her on.
did you read the things whe said about herself? Let me just say that my crusty old sailor uncle would have blushed.
Normally I treat people with decorum, but not when they reveal and revel in their own demons.

The only person that I can compare her to is my -ex girlfriend/fiancee. Marcotte is a better writer, but the venom is the same. She's got only one purpose in life -- to advance feminism.
She's begging people to write to the Edwards camp in defense of her and Amanda. Details here.
The comment about Edwards getting Swift-Boated and caving in to us wingnuts is pretty funny too.
Well, there's still a chance for John Edwards clearly a mandate for John Edwards to reemerge as her Savior if the feminists pour on enough pressure get their way.
The wingnuts stuff was really hilarious since one of the first people to call for her ouster was an Obama supporter from Durham. Speaking of whom, KC Johnson is reporting that the New York Times is reporting that Marcotte is back on the team.
And I can tell you, KC, that I feel for you, buddy. You are officially persona non-grata from this moment forward on your side of the Big Ditch™. You should think about that in the coming months.
