Neil Stevens Steps Up To Bat

I'm surprised by how many people have thought for so long that Neil Stevens is a RedState editor. That speaks to his level of engagement in the community and his commitment to the site.
Well, today we've made it official. Neil is now a RedState editor, or in our new parlance, a front page contributor. But, while we have given him super human strength and x-ray vision, we haven't given him banning abilities . . . yet. That takes time.
Congrats Neil. You have certainly earned it.

I will await your coming blamming benefit with much anticipation.
But it's funny, now that I know the blamstick is *just* about within reach, I'm having second thoughts. I mean, being the crank yelling about blamming is one thing, but owning up and getting your real blam decisions second guessed, well that's hard!
Oh who am I kidding. When I get all licensed up, I'll have to try it at least *once*.

The trolls abruptly dried up fifteen minutes before I was given the nod (no, I think that it just happened that ay).
Congrats.
The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC. I've been usurped!
you got the nod, then who have all these poseurs been just recently? If those weren't trolls, then they really fooled me!
Some don't. Most of us never go away.
I go to brunch with my sister and come back to find you've done this to my diary. You hurt my feelings. This is where I'd put a sidewise smiley face. I don't do sidewise smiley faces. Almost as bad as putting your comments directly embedded in mine. Neat trick. Boorish, but makes an impression.
I've invited my friends to watch the show. Make it a good one.
Be back in a sec.
Cheers,
Jorge Manrique

repeatedly! And you keep registering under new screen names. Then come here to brag that you have been banned and re-registered under new screen names.
ONE QUESTION? Are you an idiot?
That's actually why I keep coming back. I like to keep reading all that silly gibberish about this place being a step up (actually, probably several flights of stairs up) from lefty blogs.
I get the feeling you guys actually believe the stuff you write and actually take it seriously... as seriously as the name-calling thing. Sidewise smiley face, sidewise winking face.

I guess you are used to hanging around with people who don't believe the stuff they say or take it seriously? People who will just cynically say anything that serves their purpose. So what are you? A campaign operative with the Democrats?
Quentin Langley
Editor of http://www.quentinlangley.net
you're mostly right. The motley bunch that I hang out with isn't the most serious in terms of political principles. My response is just reflective of comments like yours that besmirch the high(er than most) character of this site.
As I have mentioned in previous incarnations, I prefer reading rightwing sites like RealClearPolitics, Instapundit and RS because it provides the balance needed after a long and tedious 15 minutes of reading leftwing sites.
There are just times that I feel that I need to provide links and information that some of you haven't seen (esp. when it is expressly requested). That's what I was doing with Sr. Wiggins when Moe intervened.
And, no, I am not a Democrat anything, though I sometimes vote that way. I'm just an annoying liberal. Sorry
to Erick for the threadjack.
I was trying to express my displeasure with Moe; and I did so in an inappropriate venue. Perdon
Penoso,
Diego Hurtado de Mendoza
I'd almost believe it's a setup; it's as though this is a sham trollfest put on by the other editors to hammer home just how determined some of the freak show is.

a doozy, Neil, and may it be one that no one-except the blammee-can quarrel with. As a citizen of Redstate, that is my blessing upon your editor-ship. ;>)
As a future blammee, may I say good luck and congratulations. And stop looking at me like breakfast.
absentee
On my first day at RS over 2-3 years ago, I made a comment that I wanted Bush to nominate a white man for O-Connor's seat so that my son would have a public male role model to follow. I was blammed, but not before I engaged in a debate with justMe and cjWife about how one of the arguments for aff action is for blacks to have public role models and how men have been denigrated in this country for 30+ years.
They appealled to the editors and saved me.
Since then I still remain a bit naive or confused about blammings and evn what a troll is.
I have never called for a blamming. I have called for shumming. And have only cited one thread jack.
anyway...

I actually spent the last 5 minutes looking at the oldest comments of yours I could find. Very forceful stuff against Clinton and against judicial activism, heh.

paranoid about race that we succumb to PC talk just because the msm will call us racists. They will always call us racists no matter how much we self censor.
Another thing I learned that day and since is that many redstaters are simply not confident speaking bluntly on race issues because they haven't much experience with blacks and/or with blacks outside a PC culture, ie not in the south.
I have and always have been very close with blacks, even more so in many ways than with whites. My dad coached the first integrated little league, and so, I come to these issues from a background of being around black friends that no me, and so knwo that when i make a joke with sarcasm, or illustrate the absurdity of the left by being absurd or blame a black oerson for their own dire straits, they don't react like so many whites living in fear of being called a racist.

We are never going to reach blacks until we treat them equally in public and not back down when challenged. When Blacks see that, more and more of them that agree will also gain the courage to step up.

Someone should start the clock on how long BrooksRob will be here. I am a loooong time lurker and very recent sign up, but I have read more than a few posts where Brooks infuriates Neil.
(Which I have to admit make for very entertaining reading)

I don't often agree with flyerhawk or BR (tax cuts and soft partition to name a couple)but they add to the debate. BR sometimes adds to much IMHO. It's good to have them here.
I still don't have the guy figured out, but seriously I don't think I've ever called for a blam on the guy, heh.

Very much deserved. Keep the great blogs coming.

I looked, and I couldn't find it, but you mean on THAT page.
Yeah. That's basically just a drupal bug. The auto-break feature doesn't know html, so it inserts breaks in the middle of elements.
Put a blockquote at the wrong point in an article and you'll see something even nastier..

but wasn't sure. I still consider myself a novice concerning html.
The source showed the openning and closing of the tag, but the break was automatically inserted in the document before the tag was closed. It only affected the page displaying the shortened version of the document.
I learned something new today.

If the autobreak is kicking in in the middle of something, and messing up the whole page, just insert this at some point a little before or a little after the autobreak, at a point that makes more sense:
<!--break-->
That's just an HTML comment that Drupal treats specially, breaking off the preview from the whole article at that point.

I'm familiar with the delimiter. I incorporate its use in most of my blog entries - current blog entry included.
Now I know to close all open html tags "before" inserting the delimiter.
