RedState 3.0: Online Tomorrow
By Erick Posted in Blogosphere — Comments (44) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »
Stay tuned to RedState tomorrow morning.
We will be opening up the beta site to the public. We'll have the site up and running for you to get in and get comfortable with. At the same time, we'll be running final tests while you kick the tires.
We expect that having a large audience will reveal a few unknown bugs. Because of that, we won't be going immediately to the new site as our new home. After making sure the tire kicking did not cause any problems, this site will become an archive and the new site will be our home.
Over time we hope to port content over. None of the content here will be erased. All of the content at the new site will be erased before we go live with it as our home. We will also transfer over all user names and passwords at that time. You will not have to get a new account.
See you all at the new site tomorrow.

Nice.
As a neophyte to this site, I am excited to see it.

Dependence is Slavery.
Just a typical, small town, British-American girl...
It was fun!
I apologize in advance.
HELL YA!!

I joined 2 yrs 13 wks ago, which is around March 1, 2006. I think my first post was "The Lost Virtue of Charity", but it may have been the ever-popular "Hi, I'm teh noobie". I can't see any posts before August 9, 2006.

Gone 2500 years, still not PC.
Your first diary came on March 1, 2006, bashing Blago and his re-election campaign talk of gun control.
Your second diary came on the 10th, laughing at Blago for having hate crimes activists coming after him.
Now I'm getting curious as to why regular readers can't see the old content. Will investigate.
Think it as having the thought again for the very first time.

I've only been posting here for a few months, but already I noticed a bug in 2.0:
To reply to someone else's post, I hit "Reply to this" and get a new page. If I then start typing my reply before all the ads on that page have updated, sometimes if an ad then updates again it refreshes the page and wipes out everything I already typed up to that point. I hate when that happens.
I'm a fast typist, so this happens to me often.
It's actually quite cool.
It looks like you are posting a generic reply (because you bounce to the bottom of the page), but the box changes to reflect that you are replying to a new post.
No waiting for a new page to load.

I know I am late and haven't been on RedState long enough for this to mean anything, but I just posted my last blog entry on RS 2.0.
This site will still be the "real" RS for now. The RS 3 that will be open to the public will still just be a test site. We'll be copying posts over but it won't be "it" yet, and everything on it will disappear at some point before it's official.
How unfortunate that all there will be deleted.

We have to do key things like bring in the actual user accounts from RS 2.
Plus there's a lot of nonsense posted there just for test purposes :-)
RS 2.0 doesn't lend itself well to that, because most aren't interested in State issues unless it's Michigan or Louisiana, and those that are have difficulty finding them.
It's become my primary.

Will the location of the feed change? I seem to have http://feeds.feedburner.com/redstate in Google Reader right now, and it's going to be difficult to impossible for me to be responsive enough to change that if needed in a sufficiently short time to not miss posts. You will be my heroes if that location isn't changing. :-)
As more often a consumer than a poster - I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for this great site and how it continues to grow. This thanks is directed to not only the directors, but the general posters, and all of you who contributed money. As a lowly graduate student I sadly have only effort to give - but let my thanks hopefully help.
Thanks to all of you - looking forward to seeing 3.0 up and running.
Is there going to be some sort of event calendar to promote local meetings, etc? I thought I read that in a previous post.

Nihilist Mints
Nihilists don’t believe in flavor! Each sleek, black 3" x 3/4" x 5/8" tin contains sixty completely flavorless mints.
Odom was in foul trouble but he was a big part of that last run the Lakers made.
It's just all on Garnett for coming through, and his team for playing good defense.
But the Lakers only need one...
