You'll notice, of course, that Neiwert started all of this by trying to go after a woman with a heart condition*.

...note the use of the word "trying."

I was going to add my commentary to Jeff Goldstein's ongoing evisceration of David "My mother was frightened by a conservative while I was in utero" Neiwert's latest inanity, but why should I duplicate yeoman work already done by Bruce Campbell?

People just seem to know, don't they, Neiwert?

Well, at least it isn't another post about how the Right is hiding under his bed, waiting for the night-light to burn out. After the sixtieth or so iteration, it gets kind of old.

My wife and I have a 4 year old daughter, and she’s 8 months pregnant with a donor egg IVF.

Who in their right minds lets a fertilized egg get implanted in their 4yo daughter?

It doesn't seem like his point is too far off...he is right that men overly concerned with appearing manly are the least manly...and I think that being a "stay at home" parent of either gender is admirable...I think the problem with his post is that he assumes the advice Dr. is suggesting that we should try to appear masculine, when what I read was that we should not be ashamed of being masculine...which is a big difference. I'm not quite sure why he thought she was saying stay at home dad's weren't masculine...building a tree fort seems like something you would do with your kids and that would involve staying at home at least for a little while.

Hey, you sure this is not an open thread? heh...

One thing that is needed in the Neiwert thread is consideration of the impact his stay-at-home career will have on his poor daughter. It is possible that she will turn out to be a normal adult, for there are many examples of children overcoming massive trauma during their formative years. But let's just hope that when she gets around to picking a mate she isn't shown that photo of her and her dorky dad in that fuzzy vehicle, or whatever it is.
