Well done Boys And Girls...well done.

The disaster, originally known as "Cap and Trade", and now known as the Boxer amendment has been stopped in the Senate [for now]. A "Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Boxer Amdt. No. 4825; In the nature of a substitute" has JUST been defeated. [3/5 majority was not reached] Take THAT, Babs.

Here is the vote tally and I say to all the Senators who voted against cloture "good job folks-well done!"

But...as I am always wont to do, let us advertise the Republicans that voted FOR cloture so they might be given a good scolding by their constituents before the bill actually GETS to a vote...which we KNOW will happen sooner or later:

Collins (R-ME), Dole (R-NC), Martinez (R-FL), Smith (R-OR), Snowe (R-ME), Sununu (R-NH), Warner (R-VA)

As an aside, here are the R's "Not Voting":

Coleman (R-MN), Cornyn (R-TX), Craig (R-ID), DeMint (R-SC), Graham (R-SC), Gregg (R-NH), McCain (R-AZ), Murkowski (R-AK), Specter (R-PA), Stevens (R-AK)

To the Republicans (and Democrats) that can't stomach sticking it to us little guys anymore?

This Bud's for you!

Between him and Nelson, its an unfair burden for Florida to bear. Both of them continuously do things that hurt the state. Did either of them think about the effect taxing fuel would have on the tourism industry ?? I think not.

I've been filling Martinez' email box on 3044 and 3036 but he just has some agenda, n ot sure what it is. He, like Crist, has bought the AGW hoax hook, line, and sinker, and maybe the rod too. He will not listen to anyone. I've also been sending notes to Nelson on these bills. I use the email form on their websites. When Nelson's staff replied back with his support for the cap n trade, which stated that

Global warming threatens Florida's fragile ecosystem and $65 billion tourism industry. Rising sea levels will encroach on Florida's pristine beaches and harm coastal wetlands and the Everglades. Increased carbon dioxide and water temperatures will damage sensitive coral reefs and endanger Florida's diverse marine species. A recent scientific study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change concluded with 90 percent certainty that global warming is caused by the accumulation of man-made greenhouse gasses.

The Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2008 would lower greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 70% below 2005 levels by 2050. The legislation accomplishes this by increasing efficiency standards and placing a cap on greenhouse gas emissions for electric power, transportation, and manufacturing sources. Cap and trade programs allow market forces to work hand in hand with regulation; the greenhouse gas cap and trade program is modeled after a successful program already in place to reduce sulfuric oxide and nitrous oxide.

Nowhere does Nelson mention higher costs and government revenue. Amazingly naive. I responded a bit harshly (and quickly without much proofing) to both Nelson and Martinez with this:

Sen. (Nelson/Martinez), the only way that Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2008 will reduce greenhouse gases is by prohibiting people like me and you, (okay, not you, but the others) is by preventing you from using energy. This is the only way it works. So turn off your computers, your lights, your limos, your cars, your air conditioning and heating equipment, and the lights as well, even fluorescents too. It will be too expensive to use any energy sources thanks to short-sighted, ignorant politicians like yourself. The shuttle and space program will be grounded. Every government program will cost more dollars, from building the KC-35 tankers, ATF fighters, defense programs, and communications systems, many of which are performed by Florida-based companies. You worked hard to get Grumman to get the JSTARS contract and a Florida presence here. Say adios to that, muchacho. China and India are drilling for our oil 50 miles from KeyWest with equipment inferior to our own, and with greater risk to Florida than if US companies performed the drilling in US waters. Get some insight, Senator, and some planning for the future and the path to get us there. You are being ignorant, and need to wake up, sir.

Not sure they listen, but I have trouble spending money for faxes right now. Don't hey eat up natural resources (paper)?

If people can't afford to get here it will really help it.

They'll have to rely on Retirees from NY.

STUPID legislation!

Freedom of Religion NOT Freedom from Religion

Two birds of a feather....

That's a ticket that cannot lose in November.

Why not? Within an hour of Obama getting the delgates needed to clinch the nomination, he called for Hillary's supporters to vote for him.

(Which makes me wonder, if his call is for liberals to vote for him, where is his call for ME to vote for him?)

the VP must be eligibleto the office of President. Martinez, being born in Cuba, cannot be President and thus cannot be VP. You'll have to suffer him in the Senate until you can challenge him.

That means Martinez plans to make the Senate his home til retirement. That really makes my day.

Martinez voted FOR the Farm Bill, which Pres. Bush said he'd veto. So he voted against his President.

But when Martinez voted for SHAMNESTY, he said he was voted in support of his President. So one time he supports him, another no-way. Consistency is not a trait of most politicians (look at BHO's position on Jerusalem in the past week).

The Warner-Lieberman Bill failed?

The debate on the bill will continue?

I've heard that they are already excited about bringing this bill back next year, because both candidates running for president support it, and G.W. Bush won't be there to veto it.

I wonder what it would take for a revolution.

We've already fought 2 wars in this country over unfair taxation and consolidation of power.

Do we REALLY need a third? (Do we have the will for a third?)

But....fyi I am a pretty good shot.
