Police Find Explosive Device in Second Car in London
LONDON — Police thwarted a car bomb attack Friday in London's bustling nightclub and theater district, defusing a crude explosive device made of gasoline, propane gas and nails after an ambulance crew spotted smoke coming from a green Mercedes outside a nightclub. Hours later, police confirmed that a second car bomb was found in the center of the city.The first car bomb, found near Piccadilly Circus, was powerful enough to have caused "significant injury or loss of life" at a time when hundreds were in the area, British anti-terror police chief Peter Clarke said.
Clarke said Friday evening that the second car — a blue Mercedes — was originally parked illegally on nearby Cockspur Street, but had been towed from the West End to an impound lot near Hyde Park.

Two Bombs Were Set To Blow In London
Sky News sources say one of the first police officers on the scene of the Haymarket car bomb may have saved dozens of lives by defusing the explosives before the bomb squad arrived.
It is believed the quick-thinking cop recognised that the car was wired to blow up, jumped in and disconnected the trigger device, thought to be a mobile phone.
The device, which contained 60 litres of petrol, a large amount of nails and several gas canisters, was found in the Mercedes early this morning.
Thoughts on this: first, I suspect that it is not a coincidence that this took place just after Tony Blair stepped down as Prime Minister. If I had to guess, I would suspect that the goal was to try to rattle new PM Gordon Brown. Blair never backed down from the GWOT; it's not outside the realm of possibility that the cowards that planned this attack might have concluded that his successor might be weaker.
Second, good job by the Brits at stamping down on this. Particularly the unnamed police officer who reached into a live, armed, jury-rigged bomb in order to remove the detonator. I can't write anything that could do credit to that act of courage, so I won't.
Third? We have the cars, apostates. We have the cars, the explosives, the wiring, the gas tanks, the nails; did you wipe your hands every time that you touched any of that? Vacuum the cars every time you got in and out of them? Thoroughly sanitize all your financial transactions? Make any last phone calls to your compatriots, or grand gestures? In short: are you really sure that you've got enough of a buffer between you and the people that you so incompetently struck at?
No? Why don't you start running, then? No, really. You should so totally go running to whomever you think would give you shelter from the storm.

I mean a good portion of downtown manhattan was wiped out by AQ. Do you consider that insignificant ?
If these car bombs went off, hundreds would have been taken before their time. Others would have had to live the rest of their lives mutilated.

Britain has dug a deep hole over the years with its "diversity" immigration policies. It is now facing a substantial radicalized minority of Muslims whose home is England. And even as the British government seeks to uncover any and all terror plots, the very same government caters to the whining of the Islamic "civil rights" crowd. Sad situation to say the least. I agree with many others... there is more of this to come both there and, I am afraid, here.

ABS News reports that a surveillance photo of driver of the first vehicle resembles a man previously taken in custody by police in connection with another bomb plot -- but released for lack of evidence. The driver was questioned for his involvment with al Qaeda operative Dhiren Barot. The Jamestown Foundation suggests that Dhiren Barot is representative of the growth and globalization of Salafi-Jihadism (a.k.a. Wahhabism) "It also underscores the truly transnational and cross-cultural nature of the threat, against which profiling may not provide an adequate defense."
