What about it? Doesn't everybody riot and launch terror attacks when their spiritual leader dies?

The "Blind Sheikh," spiritual leader to al-Qaeda and convicted terrorist, appears to be on his deathbed in a Springfield, Missouri hospital, the result of a tumor on his liver doctors discovered last Wednesday when he was taken to an emergency room for a blood transfusion.
Imprisoned since 1996, when he was convicted of conspiring to blow up landmarks in New York City, the 68-year-old Blind Sheikh - whose name is Omar Abdel-Rahman - has been in and out of the prison medical center since his initial incarceration, due to heart ailments and diabetes. Ever one to encourage mindless [note: Paul makes the good point that the Islamist violence is, in fact, far from mindless] violence against the West in the name of Islam, Abdul-Rahman has sought used his illness - and long-impending death - as yet another reason for terrorist attacks to be committed against America.
According to ABC News:
[An FBI situational awareness] bulletin cited what it said was his last will and testament distributed at an al Qaeda press conference in 1998.
My Brothers...If they [the Americans] kill me, which they will certainly do – hold my funeral and send my corpse to my family, but do not let my blood be shed in vain. Rather, extract the most violent revenge, and remember your brother who spoke the truth and died for the will of God...The Mujahid Sheikh Omar Abdel al Rahman. In the name of God the kind and merciful.
Allow me to pause for a moment to ponder the very idea of an "al Qaeda press conference." Wow.
Anyhow, the FBI believes that "his death could lead al Qaeda to launch terror attacks against the United States in reprisal," in accordance with the wishes he had previously expressed. According the FBI, as recently as this past Ramadan al Qaeda in Iraq had been encouraging mass kidnappings of Westerners in hopes of arranging an exchange for the Blind Sheikh, "suggesting that the Blind Sheikh remains a significant source of inspiration for AQ and their sympathizers."
Such sentiment is completely understandable; after all, I cannot help but recall, in light of this report - and accompanying FBI warning - the example set by the recent rioting and terroristic targeting of civilians in the most violent means by the world's Catholics upon the death of Pope John Paul II. that was funny, now with regards to an aq press conference in 98 says alot about how serious the previous administration was. I am happy to hear the blind bast**d is going to meet his maker, the poor little liberals will be having a field day excoriating the mean prison system for not allowing him to go home to die. I will not give him a second thought after he is gone.

What CAIR will do if terrorist violence in the US ensues after this criminal dies and goes to a much warmer place. My bet is that it will be against offshore targets and the news media in the US and the Brit pilot fish will ignore the event, unless it is truly spectacularly bloody.

There were plenty of hate crimes against Muslims and Muslim-looking people after 9/11. Regrettable, but very hard to prevent. I don't think anything will come out of this man's death, though.

I am surprised that you would doubt this. It is a matter of record. Am I not welcome either? Do you have ANY backup for your accusation of "patent lies". Strong insulting words from someone who is wrong.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations says it received more than 300 reports of harassment and abuse from Tuesday through Thursday night, nearly half the number it received all last year. Khalid Iqbal, director of the Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group, says cases range from families being spat and yelled at, "Go back to your country," to assaults on people and businesses.
I remember the murder of the Sikh in Tempe, AZ (I live in Phoenix).
Taken in context, the article was published on 9/17/2001, and compared to the reaction of Muslims after the publishing of the Danish cartoons, "harassment and abuse" is pretty calm stuff following the the murder of 3,000 people. It's worth noting that where actual crimes were committed, people were charged, arrested and tried, unlike the divine comedy in Europe and the Middle East over the cartoons.

If he is dying of cancer, why should we provide our state of the art care? Let him go to his ardent followers and see if they can help him. This is a tongue-in-cheek proposal, so don't flame me.
Anyway, he would probably die by blowing himself up and taking innocent people with him.
