Good news:
6 charged with plot to attack N.J. base
By GEOFF MULVIHILL, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - Six nationals of the former Yugoslavia were arrested on charges they plotted to attack the Fort Dix Army base and "kill as many soldiers as possible," federal authorities said Tuesday.
The six were scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Camden later Tuesday to face charges of conspiracy to kill U.S. servicemen, said Michael Drewniak, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Jersey.
There'll be a press conference at 2:30.
[UPDATE]: If this Star-Ledger article is correct, yup, radical Islamists:
They had been under FBI surveillance for months, practiced by shooting paintball guns and real weapons in a rural area of the Poconos, one source said. They also allegedly watched jihadist videos in which Osama bin Laden urged them toward martyrdom.
The men - several of whom were in the same family - had videotaped their practice sessions in the Poconos, the source said. That videotape, in which they railed against America, led to their arrests.
The men made the mistake of bringing it to a retail store, seeking to get a copy burned to a DVD, according to one of the sources. A store employee who later watched the tape called the FBI who began immediately investigating.
Via Captain Ed, who is likewise both amazed and delighted at the stupidity of these guys.
Read on.
Now this article (via Glenn) originally pegged the suspects as ethnic Albanians, although now it's walking back to them being from either Albania or the former Yugoslavia. It is unclear whether they were targeting Fort Dix because of its role in the Kosovo situation: I would not be personally surprised either way. If they were, it raises the question of whether they are actually looking for revenge for our intervention in favor of Muslim Yugoslavian refugees. On the other hand, if they weren't Islamist terrorists you'd expect that the media might have mentioned it. On the gripping hand, maybe nobody knows for certain yet. Again: the press conference on this one should be interesting.
Either way: kudos to our law-enforcement agencies for shutting down this one. Well done.

Bee-Boo-Beep! The number you have reached is no longer in service, or has been disconnected...sucker.
"Hello. The number you have called is for the Rejection Hotline. Whoever gave you this number obviously doesn't want to talk to you and you bought it, you loser!"
"It's a book about a man who doesn't know he's about to die, and then dies...
...But if the man does know he's going to die and dies anyway. Dies, dies willing, knowing he can stop it, then...
Well, isn't that the type of man you want to keep alive?"

Man, I'm out of the loop. I can barely keep up with "Entourage" and "The Sopranos", Thank god for HBO On Demand.
The only one I know of is the show showtime advertises every so often.

This is close to home.
I grew up in Medford, which is (if my mental map of South Jersey is on the mark) about halfway in between Cherry Hill and Fort Dix.
Thankfully they were idiots and law enforcement did a good job. Six more people we'll never have to worry about again.
My guess is that the Democrat Political leaders are rewriting the Hate Crimes Act
HR 1592 right now to insure that the six named in this action are protected. If in fact, they were not previously protected under its proposed wording.
I guess this means that "Bill Clinton created Terrorists". Kudos for catching these guys.
Oh goody! Does this mean we can bomb the crap out of Yugoslavia now? I LOVE pre-emptive strikes ... I LOVE bombing the crap out of other countries!!
Sure didn't waste any time...which is good since you won't be around long.
And if it becomes clear that some portion of the former Yugoslavia aided and abetted these jihadis, I think we'll probably bomb the hell out of them.
If that isn't true, and since there's nothing to suggest that it is, I imagine crazy cowboy George or however you think of our president, will manage to avoid a war in the Balkans over this.
not nearly as much as our moderators love preemptive banning.

Wow! Thanks for straightening me out!
Gee, I thought we went into Bosnia/Serbia to stop GENOCIDE ... kinda like what Chimpy's ignoring in Dafur ... well, slap me with a wet noodle!!
Child, they lied to you about the extent of the genocide in Kosovo. Even by their numbers, the genocide that occurred in Iraq was for worse then what occurred in Kosovo. But a liberals compassion only extends to selected peoples.
I just mentioned Serbia because we all know how much rancor liberals caused when Clinton engaged in that "illegal and unjust" war. I'm sure youve heard of the phrase. You must have been really mad at the Democrats for bombing those poor innocent people with congressional or united nation approval.
With respect to Darfur, why aren't you there? Since you are not there, you have no right to advocating a position on Darfur. Wasn't that the logic on your other silly little rant.
Come on you big ol' macho man ... get your balls over there! Protect our freedoms!! Fight them there so we don't have to fight them here! Come on ... be my HERO, PLEASE??
Genocide in Iraq? Why, I thought we went into Iraq for WMD's? Ooops ... that didn't pan out! Okay, we went in to liberate the Iraqi's ... they'll throw FLOWERS at the troops! Oops ... that didn't work out well either! Okay ... why ARE we there??
Hey, I LOVE bombing poor innocent people into oblivion just like any other Cletus or Bobby Sue! I just wish I had courtside seats with my Pabst Blue Ribbon!
I tried to join the military but I have a disability that prevented me from joining.
May I ask why you are not in Darfur?
Quite a fan of Heinlein we have here. I mean sure, I greatly enjoyed reading Starship Troopers, but it never occured to me to actually apply it in real life...
Run like Reagan!
We already did. Some guy named Bill Clinton bombed Serbia, a country that posed no threat to us, into oblivion without a congressional vote, and even worse, without UN approval.
...was part of the registration process. It'd cut down on dunderheads like this one.
The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC.
...and she thinks Yugoslavia is that little country between Serbia and Bosnia...if she's ever though of it at all. I'm worried about the college kids these days.
First it was "IndepedentMachavelli"--but he was just "sleepy"--and now this gal. This is what I was talking about, Captain Toke.
Can you post a real indepented thought? Perhaps you can show some reasoning behind just 1 post?
Or did you just come here to see how many KOSisms you could post before being banned?

I really, REALLY wanna learn how to be a Chimpy Cheerleader! His approval rating is 28% ... I wanna know how it feels to be part of an ever shrinking minority!! WEEEEEEEEEEE ... this is FUN!
I wanna LEARN!!
And they have score in double digits. This one would never have made it.

we may not know the whole story about how these men were captured? Supposedly, these men went into a retail story to burn copies of some homemade videos they shot onto a DVD. The video's showed them firing their weapons, yelling "Allahu Akbar!" and talking about how they plan to kill American soldiers.[1]
Now, I'm not saying it didn't happen that way, but consider what we know about this case:
1) We know that these are foreign born guys. Four are from Albania (or somewhere in the former Yugoslavia), one is from Turkey, and one is from Jordan. None of them were American-born.
2) We know Al-Qaeda and other international terrorist organizations recruit in those areas.
3) We know these people had funding (these weapons and stuff cost a lot, right?), and we know that they planned this thing for over a year.
Now, does that sound like the kind of amateur group that get's themselves pinched by handing a tape with incriminating evidence to some clerk working at Best Buy or some other electronics retailer? If these folks were hot heads who didn't know what they were doing, why did they wait so long and plan so patiently for this operation. And why did the FBI watched them for 15 months before moving in on them? It sure doesn't sound like these guys were the terrorist equivalent of the Reno 911 police department.

Yes its good media play and all. Imagine though the effect on the terrorists when they send people here and they just quietly disappear. They wouldn't know what happened. No martyrs, no public spectacles just a quiet void where the scum used to be.
