Mullah Dadullah dies as a rock star.
That is to say, messily, abruptly and with reporters circling his corpse.

Say hi to Shai'tan for me, apostate:
Top Taliban Commander Is Killed in Clash
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Sunday, May 13 — Afghan government officials showed the body of Mullah Dadullah, the top operational commander for the Taliban insurgency, to reporters here Sunday morning, saying he had been killed in a joint operation of Afghan and coalition forces.
Mr. Dadullah, an amputee, was recognizable in part from his missing leg and black beard. He had been shot in the head and in the stomach.
Couldn't even leave a good-looking corpse(UPDATE by streiff photo by way of Bill Roggio, if you are currently enjoying steak tartare you probably don't want to see this photo). Tsk, tsk: what is the world coming to?
Read on.
Some background on the guy here and here; Captain Ed (H/T) notes a little bit more about the fellow, as well as how we didn't actually see the sufficently-significant spring offensive that the Taliban promised us. We read newspapers, too, you see: and when we read things like:
If Osama bin Laden likes being in the global spotlight, he's likely a bit depressed in his hideout these days. The leader of the al-Qaida terrorist organization hasn't made an appearance on the evening news for quite some time. What's more, the Taliban no longer need bin Laden as a figurehead. Western intelligence agencies warn that the Taliban now have "their own star" in their struggle against Western soldiers and the Afghan government of President Hamid Karzai. The new nightmare from the Hindu Kush Mountains is called Mullah Dadullah. He sports a pitch black beard, always wears a military jacket and these days, he is omnipresent in the media.
[snip]
The images on these DVDs reveal the Taliban's self confidence and new professionalism. The films herald a bloody spring in Afghanistan, one in which Western troops will face a newly strengthened Taliban army under a re-organized leadership. Well armed and better logistically organized than ever before, the Taliban are preparing for their fight against the hated NATO troops, whose alliance has recently shown signs of internal division. "They say it will be the decisive summer," says a man who occasionally drinks tea with the Taliban commanders.
...well, let's just say that the existence of monsters inevitably leads to the existence of monster-killers.

Fox News Site reports him as being shot in the back of the head.
Wonder if that shot came first or last and from a distance of about 3 feet or 3000?
Inquiring minds want to know
As long as they gathered as much intelligence as possible prior to his demise, I don't really care either. I just found the detail interesting from a tactical perspective.
You all, go over to Yahoo News right now!
They are headlining the story of the Taliban leader ambiguously. They don't even say "killed."
They just say something to the effect "Taliban leader in Afghanistant by US Forces." It's not even a correct sentence.
Could this be intentional?
Because it's positive news for George Bush and those supporting the War on Terror, AP pulls a "CNN-like" mistake to downplay the story?

This headline appeared on Yahoo News this morning:
Taliban's top military commander in U.S.-led operation
There's no verb in the sentence???

Verbs were deemed counterrevolutionary in 2006.

I agree they flubbed the headline. Technically, the headline is correct, though if 'In' is used as an adverb.
Even though he was the target, from a planning perspective, he was 'In' the U.S Led operation.
Now he is 'In' the ground and 'In' Hell.
And good riddance to this Worm of a human being. I'd say about this time, Dadullah is finding out those 72 virgins are actually goats with 3 heads. Say hello to Zarqhawi and Saddam while you're down there, Dadullah.

C'mon, he just has a different perspective on the world. We need more diplomacy and less killing.
Oh, wait a minute-I thought I was Democrat blogging.
Good job by good guys. We need to be thinking more along the lines of William Halsey, so, to paraphrase, Arabic and other Middle Eastern languages other than Hebrew should be spoken only in Hell when we're done with them.
So don't make that joke again here. Don't even look like you're about to make that joke again here.
Grok?

Are you serious?

I really thought you were joking. That's his real name? No wonder he became a terrorist. Yeah, yeah, this from the guy named Erick Erickson. Ha ha.
