Yeah, it was a shame about Freddie Mercury.

Pomeroy Discusses Visit to Iraq
The security situation in Iraq has improved dramatically in the past few months.
That's the assessment of North Dakota Congressman Earl Pomeroy, who just returned from a visit to Iraq.
Pomeroy says the incidence of roadside bombings and other violence is down because Iraqis are taking a more vigorous part in attacking factions that are causing violence in the nation.
The congressman says his visit proved to him that General David Patraeus, who is in charge of American forces in Iraq, has done an extraordinary job... [Ellipses in original]

Read on.
Before you ask, no, Representative Pomeroy (D-ND) isn't fearful for his job - he got almost 66% of the vote last election, which means that he's more bulletproof than Superman right now - so this is a rather significant switch in position. And it is a switch in position: even with the obligatory nods towards BDS factored in, you've got a 180 degree turn here. Rep. Pomeroy may not be off of the antiwar movement train quite yet, but he's grabbing his coat and looking for his bag in the overhead rack.
But why? What could lead him into such obvious madness? What could possibly have turned away from the light? Who could have possibly dissuaded him?
Damned if I know, folks. Damned if I know.

...when Bush gets every penny he asked for.
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
You know, there are times when I actually feel sorta sorry for these Dems getting hounded by the moonbats like this. Truly, I do.
But then I recall that symbiotic relationship between "sowing" and "reaping" and, well, the feeling pretty much vanishes after that.

Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock.
it's not ethnic cleansing that led to stability in iraq?
or that the troops have run out of people to kill?
so is pomeroy disagreeing with senator reid and congressman obey?
Democrats have no clue when it comes to national security. They are like weathervanes ... You can get dizzy watching them. My guess if they were driven by doing what is right for America instead of what they see at the time as politically expedient, America would be better off. Yes I know that would be hard for them to behave like adults, but hope ....
If the party of loonies got sane the stupid party would have to wise up. Both would be good and we could elect on the basis of platform and issues instead of gotcha soundbites.
No I am not holding my breath

they are coming to grips with reality. Some still hold out hope for a humiliating defeat for Bush and the resulting boost for the Democrats, but it is nice to see a few who are willing acknowledge that the surge is working and that their planned precipitous withdrawal would have been devastating. Well, maybe they still won't acknowledge the last part of that statement, but we take what we can get.
Props for the Queen/Freddie reference. He was one of the all-time best entertainers.
I think that we need to let the troops finish the job and then come home, we have already sacrificed so much, why not finish the job?
It's called survival skills. ND went over 65% Bush in 2004, and he's had several tough races before.
Anyhow, whatever his reason, nice to see him turn around. It'll lead to a further destruction of the anti-war left.
John Bolton for President
"FEAR THE 'STACH!!!"
Missed your comment that he's safe. That's not totally true. He's certainly not in any danger right now, but neither was Tom Dashle in 2002.
He's faced several tough races before. I think he won in 2000 with like 52%.

I mean that in a very literal sense, 'cos she's still issuing them.
I was goint to say "no longer taking orders from Nancy and Okinawa Jack," but not even Murtha's taking orders from Murtha anymore.
On a side note, in that second vid, I found myself shouting "Go for it!" and "Run!"
