Big Daddy Strikes Again

Last night Mark wrote about the earmark reforms, and it keeps getting better.

Senator Robert Byrd has blocked a vote on the "Second Look at Wasteful Spending Act", which is important legislation designed to limit pork and earmarks. According to Congress Daily, “[Majority Leader] Reid said Appropriations Chairman Byrd refused to agree to any deal that would set up a vote on line-item authority, even at a later date.” [Congress Daily, “Senate Ethics Bill Debate Stalls Over Line-Item Veto,” Jan. 18, 2007].

I think it is time we remember this:

It's an investment in our future.

Bipartisanship = give + take. Republicans give. Democrats take.

When by kyle8

will this wicked old Klansman finally pass on?

Demagoguery, pork, lies, hatred, and the most extreme partisanship are a hell of a legacy.

The West Virginia voters had a chance to defeat him at the polls, but, once again, the majority of West Virginia voters didn't do so. They get what they deserve. We all get what we deserve when the majority of voters can't defeat the "most Bozo" of politicians at every political level.

Given Byrd's latest landslide victory combined with the unabashed enthusiasm of both Byrd and this audience, I'm convinced that West Virginians know their boy is a pork barrel guy and are quite pleased with the arrangement.

Those of us in the remaining 49 states ought to resolve that once Byrd goes the way of Castro that the state should not see a federal penny for 30 years, or at least until the excess funding has been recouped with interest.

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

of spending reforms in the Reagan, Bush I and Clinton years.

He is consistent!

He is a cocky SOB, isn't he. Its no wonder West Virginians keep voting for him. He keeps bringing in the pork for what would otherwise be a decrepit state.

He got WV kids a clothing allowance paid primarily by the Feds?
I have to admit he is good at his job.
