Countdown to Veto
Nancy's Playing Games With The Troops

The RS Insider reads the Democrats dirty laundry so you don’t have to. In today’s Congressional Quarterly, Democrats reveal yet another excuse for not getting to work on troop funding legislation in a timely manner.
The conference report on the bill…was adopted by the House and cleared by the Senate last week, but Pelosi, D-Calif., wanted time to personally read it and sign it before sending it to Pennsylvania Avenue.
Speaker Pelosi hasn’t even read the bill yet. And despite the fact that this whole thing is just a formality before the promised Presidential veto, she wants to hold up the funding a bit longer so she can, what, proofread it for typos?
Let’s review the reasons Democrats have floated for this latest delay:
- Want to time the delivery of the bill to coincide with the Mission Accomplished Anniversary so Dems can get nice headlines.
- Want to have time to read the bill they’ve already drafted and voted on.
- Want to get the “bill…printed on parchment”.
Meanwhile, the clock is ticking.

George W. Bush, 4/9/99, Houston Chronicle:
“Victory means exit strategy, and it’s important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is.”
And on the specific need for a timetable:
George W. Bush, 6/5/99, Scripps Howard/Seattle Post-Intelligencer:
“I think it’s also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn.”
My Gawd it almost sounds like that Morally Vapid Naceee Pelosiee said that. Or was it Harry Reid that coached Bush on his Kosovo position?
Just because you don't bother to listen doesn't mean one hasn't been stated.
There are target dates, but not fixed dates for withdrawal. Fixed dates are just announcements to terrorists that we will surrender on a specific date. Target dates that are expected date of completion of specific tasks are a different matter. They are for planning purposes, but allow for the plans to change to meet changing conditions (as they have many times).
Socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried and it's failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).

Not to be confrontational, but the majority of legislators do not read every bill that is proposed or passed--they have people to do that for them. So, exluding the negative motives that you place on Pelosi, it's worth admiring someone who actually reads legislation.
Do you think Bush will read the whole bill before he vetoes?
AFTER she voted for it.

Bush Vetoes Troop Withdrawal Bill
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush vetoed legislation to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq Tuesday night in a historic showdown with Congress over whether the unpopular and costly war should end or escalate.
I'm surprised given the rest of the language that called it a "war" rather than an "illegal invasion".
.....in one lifetime. congratulations to commissars pelosi, reid, murtha, obama, kerry, kennedy, dean and the entire democratic party leadership politburo for turning opposition politics into an exercise in obstructionist treason.

With his veto pen. Veto the piece of crap. Let Nancy read it and sign it at her leisure.
