Dems Continue To Play Politics With Troops
Delay . . . Delay . . . Delay . . . How Much More Will They Cost The Troops?

After dawdling on the supplement for well over a month – including a two-week House vacation during which Speaker Pelosi ‘forgot’ to appoint conferees to finish the Supplemental quickly – the Democrats are going to string it out for a few more days so they can put the bill on the President’s desk on the fourth anniversary of the “Mission Accomplished” speech.
Incidentally, the “mission accomplished” speech was suggested by General Franks as a nice ‘well done’ moment for the sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln and a sign to the international community that the “major combat operations” involving “tanks and jets and ships and that sort of thing” were over. It was a good idea….until Democrats ruthlessly misrepresented and exploited it to score political points. But that’s what they do.
So, while Democrats keep delaying the supplemental bill to score a few more points off their old lies, let’s review how their delay is costing the US mission and the US military…
- “…Because of this lack of funding, MNSTC-I (Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq) is unable to continue at the pace they were in the developmental process of the Iraqi Security Forces.” - Gen. Caldwell, Chief Spokesman, Multinational Force - Iraq
- “The Congress’ Failure To Pass The Fiscal Year 2007 (FY07) Supplemental Budget Is The Only Thing Holding Up The Growth And Training Of The Iraqi Military … The Money To Train The Iraqi Units Has Dried Up.” - Bill Roggio, 04/26/07
- “The Money To Train The Support Units Cannot Be Legally Reappropriated From U.S. Budgets To Fund A Foreign Military Equipment/Training Program, So The Programs Ha[ve] Stopped.” - Bill Roggio, 04/26/07
They want a withdrawal date prior to “winning” the White House. Why? So, that it continues to be the fault of the GOP. What they are really setting themselves up for is a total nightmare in the post “war” era. The radical Muslims will gain more power and control in the region.
Radical muslims already gained more power in the region, and they gained it as a direct result of the war and popular elections. Saddam Hussein was a dictator, but a secular dictator nonetheless. The country was a powder keg to be sure, but we supplied the matches. Furthermore the only thing keeping money from our troops is president Bush's veto and the only thing keeping them in iraq is Republican opposition in the House and Senate.
And before we begin shaking our heads for the carnage that will follow the withdrawal, perhaps we should look back to the last four years of deceit, ineptitude, and slaughter. The country wants to leave because we don't see victory as possible. The terms of victory have not been outlined, indeed, there isn't even an enemy with whom we can negotiate. Victory is an undefined abstraction in which Iraq is safe enough for us to leave, but we've been watching a downward spiral for four years and are fed up.
Will the "victory" be worth it if it takes one more year? what about three? five years? We should cut our losses as soon as possible and be thankful that due to our efforts, Iraq will never slide into the despotism, extremism, and oppression that is rampant accross the border in Saudi Arabia.
And one final note, we aren't "fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here," because "they" don't have a navy or an air force to follow us back here with, so we can continue to sleep soundly in our beds when this nightmarish jaunt is over.

It was also a horrible mistake to invade Iran. Terrible move.

We didn't start the fire! It was always burning, since the world's been turning!
Ok, your turn again.
Furthermore the only thing keeping money from our troops is president Bush's veto and the only thing keeping them in iraq is Republican opposition in the House and Senate.
No, the only thing keeping money from them is the refusal to pass a supplemental so that the tools who inhabit your side of the aisle can have a theater moment for the one-handed typists on your side of the 'sphere. The only thing keeping them in Iraq is Republican determination not to repeat the fun and excitement of the fall of South Vietnam. (Millions dead, and the Democrats pat themselves on the back! Only in America!)
And before we begin shaking our heads for the carnage that will follow the withdrawal, perhaps we should look back to the last four years of deceit, ineptitude, and slaughter.
Look, we all feel bad about the Democrats' behavior these last four years, but is it really necessary to engage in this kind of hyperbole?
The country wants to leave because we don't see victory as possible.
Who is "we," kemosabe?
The terms of victory have not been outlined, indeed, there isn't even an enemy with whom we can negotiate. Victory is an undefined abstraction in which Iraq is safe enough for us to leave, but we've been watching a downward spiral for four years and are fed up.
Typical n00b retread mistake (more on this below): You weren't reading the front page, huh? I suppose a four-year downward spiral was underway while combat operations were still running?
Will the "victory" be worth it if it takes one more year? what about three? five years?
If only to see how long you guys can type one-handed, yes.
We should cut our losses as soon as possible and be thankful that due to our efforts, Iraq will never slide into the despotism, extremism, and oppression that is rampant accross the border in Saudi Arabia.
Now just a minute, retread. Here in these parts, we ask consistency of our trolls and retreads. Up yonder, you went out of your way to say we already let some variation of Saudi Arabia happen, now we've already prevented it? Try using both hands from here out.
And one final note, we aren't "fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here," because "they" don't have a navy or an air force to follow us back here with, so we can continue to sleep soundly in our beds when this nightmarish jaunt is over.
Lucky for us, those filthy brown people haven't figured out how to buy airline tickets, huh?
Now, for the sad part. The dance, such as it was, has ended, and before we even got to go cheek to cheek. You see, Carbon Based, our Terms of Service, to which you agreed by registering, forbid re-registering under a different name when banned. The proper method of coming back is hitting the Contact form, then begging our forgiveness or explaining (politely) why we're wrong. If we agree, we'll let you back in.
Now, here's the bad news: Your next attempt at one-handed re-entry will be met with an email to PacBell, letting them know you're using their service to abuse our site, and that we're about to have to black hole their service, meaning our readers who use their service may have problems reaching us.
How do you think that will turn out, I wonder?

cutting into your traffic simply by registering an account here? the proposition is too delicious to pass up. I'm sure once you explain to them all the notty things i've been doing they'll pull the internets right out from under me.
I'm going to make some predictions right now. I predict that you will ban this account and write your little e-mail to my ISP. My ISP will do nothing, and I will simply register an account from a different IP and continue to speak truth to dimwits. anyways, this was a nice little exchange, although your response left much to be desired, but arguments that end with lines in the sand and chest thumping usually do.
In summation, you are a crybaby and a mental midgit.
Well, time to find out, yes?

for Iraq to be on the table while trying to run a national campaign. The massive fraud that was perpetrated against the American electorate in '06 cannot be duplicated in '08.
a) The "New Direction" has been unmasked, and that pig sure is ugly.
b) The dem's culture of corruption continues unabated.
c) The dems never had a plan for success in Iraq, just opposition to President Bush.
d) The dems even refuse to acknowledge the war on terror is, in fact, global.
But more importantly, should President Bush steadfastly support the troops by supporting the mission in Iraq, while simultaneously fending off the hysterical cries for surrender from the opposition, the dems will be forced to run a national campaign on a platform of defeat. How unfortunate.
The dems are really left with no choice but to play politics with the troops while they can still try to force President Bush to accept defeat, and therefore, the blame. However, time is not on their side, because real progress continues in Iraq, and President Bush doesn't plan to do a "Surge Assessment" until September, or even later, at least according to the NYTimes.
Although, they'll actually be right on one account. If the president perseveres, and the dems are forced to run on that platform of defeat, that most certainly will be Bush's Fault.™

Not a really problem as long as they gain control of the federal government. That is their goal.
Part of me hopes they achieve it. Then it will be the defeatocrats that must deal with the mess they created.
On the other hand, the future costs in lives their success will cost saddens my heart like nothing could possible since the death of my mother.
