House Dems Scared Of MoveOn Wing. In Disarray

The RS Insider has seen the same gory details that you saw splashed up on Drudge. House in disarray! Democrats are running in every direction!
- • Dem leadership pulls DC voting bill from floor; conservative Dems were supporting DC gun repeal...
- • Leader Hoyer seen yelling at staff on floor...
- • Speaker Pelosi absent because she is desperately searching for Iraq supplemental votes...
- • Holmes-Norton standing silently in disbelief..
It’s so bad that Speaker Pelosi and DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen may have to skip a scheduled fundraiser tonight if they can’t bring their factions together.
What’s the problem?
Read on . . .
The RS Insider hears from sources on the Hill that Democrats are frightened – and not just in the House. The Right hand of the Democratic Party (Blue Dog Dems) knows what the Left hand of the Democratic Party (Kucinich, Obey, Dodd, Obama, Feingold, Hillary, Moveon.org, Code Pink, ANSWER) is doing, and they don’t care for it. And the Left hand isn’t thrilled with the compromises they’ll have to make for the Right hand, either.
The Moveon.org Wing of the Democratic Party doesn’t want to vote for the DC gun repeal or the new Iraq supplemental, since any vote for funding is going to be a tacit endorsement of the mission they’re funding, and Dodd, Waters, Obama and others don’t want to have that vote hung on them. [you voted for the war! Heretic!]
But the Blue Dog Dems know that voting for the Iraq supplemental (or against the DC gun repeal) would end up in campaign commercials in their home districts.
Moveon.org said of the Democratic Party: “We bought it, we own it”. And when it came to funding the troops, Senator/Representative [whoever] accepted their ‘pork for surrender’ bribe. Senator/Representative [whoever]…a bought and paid-for member of the Moveon.org Wing of the Democratic Party.
The RS Insider doesn’t know how they’ll square that circle.
The Senate Democrats 2008 budget that would “boost spending” without “cutting funds for defense or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan” is another interesting case. Can Obama and Dodd (and Feingold and Saunders and…) vote to support the President’s war funding while they’re telling their base how much they oppose it?
The RS Insider hears the pressure building. The Democrats know that if they vote with the Moveon.org Wing of the Democratic Party, they’ll have to answer for it. The Right hand of the Democratic Party can’t sell themselves to voters as a conservative Democrat after accepting the Moveon ‘pork for surrender’ bribe -- and the Left hand will have trouble explaining their ‘fund the war’ budget and supplemental votes when the anti-war crowd starts checking for fealty.
And that, kids, explains the “House in Disarray!” message on Drudge today. They’re having trouble agreeing on a message because they don’t actually agree. And both wings of the Democratic Party know the other wing is political poison.

Those Democrats will never get anything done! Much too divided!
Oh, wait...the Democrats actually just did more on Iraq than has been done by Republicans during the entire war. Hmm.
