22 Million New Smokers Needed to Fund SCHIP

By Bluey Posted in | | | Comments (11) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »

Ten days after making a splash with a clever commercial attacking the Democrats' plan to fund SCHIP with a tobacco tax, the mysterious nicolai1951 is back with a second video. This one is even funnier than the first.

Meanwhile, it appears Republicans haven't given up hope that a deal on SCHIP is still possible. The question remains whether Democrats are willing to come to the table to talk.

We have been dieing the death of a thousand cuts on these issues.

But Americans, Republican and Democrat, are determined to drive the country right off the cliff. The Democrats will drive America over the cliff at 120MPH, the Republicans will do it at 60MPH. The results will only be different in terms of where the parts land.

If I were a billionaire (or maybe just a multi-millionaire) I'd gladly buy airtime and pay this guy to put these on TV.

Like I keep asking... WHERE is OUR George Soros?!

Anybody feel like starting a PAC?

I would also hope that this is being seen by the RNC, RSC, RCCC, etc.

The foolish forget but do not forgive.
The wise forgive but do not forget.

He needs to make a third video about the real reason this plan might want to make someone *start* smoking:

It's funded on the basis of a cigarette tax increase which will undercut itself but the plan, once enacted, will be irrevocable and therefore taxes on something else will need to be raised to maintain it.

The smokers are just the stepping stone. The Donks are stepping on them to get to the larger goals, which are preventing northeastern state governors from having to raise taxes to meet their promises and meanwhile creating a new program which will require those tax increases in the future.

It's the kind of perpetual motion machine Democrats love!

Considering where the good doctor's head was, when practicing medicine, is it any wonder that the man has issues?

What I'd like to know is why Republicans are holding out with any hope of a deal at all for SCHIP?

Why don't they just want to let SCHIP out? No pun intended.

To me, it's already proven exactly what it's there for: a program that when states need extra money they will try to use their federal leverage to expand. That is the *first* thing the Republicans should be driving a stake through at the federal level.

Why are *any* of them holding out for a deal?

Since the Democrats look like they want to play brinkmanship here, forgetting that GWB is not up for election next year, there's a good chance that the whole thing could expire through the next election. The more the Democrats demagogue, the stiffer the Republican backs, I hope.

And Rightly So!

Ask not what I can do for my country, ask what my country can do for me. Washington Elected Elite
