Lying To The American People
What to do when Democrats don't have the votes?

The biased media wing of the Democratic party was so shocked that Reid's Democratic majority in the Senate could not pass a motion to cut off debate on “a resolution of irresolution,” criticizing the revised strategy in Iraq, that it misleads lies stating that by voting against the motion to end debate, Republican Senators block debate. Just how stupid do the New York Times, CNN and the Associated Press think the American people are.
First, a little civics lesson. As you have surely heard by now, yesterday there was a "Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Motion to Proceed to S. 470; A bill to express the sense of Congress on Iraq."
According to Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary "cloture" is "the closing or limitation of debate in a legislative body especially by calling for a vote."
Therefore, a "Motion to Invoke Cloture" is the method for ending debate and securing an immediate vote on a measure that is before a deliberative body.
Read on ...
In the U.S. Senate, the motion to end debate on a question being debated is called "Cloture." Under Senate Rule 22, such a motion requires a three-fifths majority to pass, or 60 votes.
Here is how the biased liberal/progressive media present the story:
New York Times - G.O.P. Senators Block Debate on Iraq Policy
CNN - GOP blocks Senate debate on Iraq resolution
Associated Press - Republicans Block Senate Debate on Iraq
It's not just the headline writers, the opening paragraph of each the above stories carries the theme.
The truth is Reid's Democrats failed to get the votes to end the debate and the press tells us the Republicans blocked debate. PLEASE! Again, just how stupid does the biased liberal/progressive mainstream media wing of the Democratic party think the American people are?
The roll call is available here.

I noticed NBC, little more than the DNC public information office, tinkered some and reported the GOP cut off "meaningful debate." I have no clue what that means, but it shows the MSM has been humbled along with the Democrats and the handful of GOP fellow travelers.
The real bias shows up in how the MSM has downplayed this blow to the Democrats. The story has been barely reported, largely because Reid and Company have egg all over their faces and look pretty stupid this morning.
Nonetheless, for those who don't want to see defeat in Iraq, yesterday's Democratic failure was the first good news since November. All the propaganda in the world cannot change that fact.
which to me, isn't even possible. The MSM media doesn't/won't report the GOP's correction as the truth. They'll simply twist it somehow into "protesting too much".
The Media doesn't necessarily think the American people are stupid - they simply rely on the majority of American's indifference and lack of importance of truth.
Which is why the headlines are what they are. Bullet points for those who claim to be informed but never seek the facts.
Somehow, the mind of the American people has to be changed from apathy to true awareness.

on fooling the American people is pretty impressive. Call that "stupid" if you like, but I think they have a good job of pulling it off here once again. If depends on how effectively the Republicans refute the media's line. Do they correct the media consistently, or just sit with their deer-in-the-headlights look on their faces when the media throws the accusation at them?
