Murtha Becomes His Antithesis

Today, John Murtha, Vietnam solider who saw politicians turn their back on the soliders in the field, has become his antithesis.

From Congress Daily PM [subscription link]:

“Look, these guys have lied to us so much, I've even lost confidence in the military,” said Murtha, a retired Marine colonel with ties to the Pentagon.

Compare this to John Murtha, who in 1974, on the floor of the House said:

As a combat veteran, I want to repeat to the Members who are here that I know I complained on the floor recently that I felt that the criticism at home, in and outside Congress, hurt the war effort. I still believe that very strongly

and then said this:

I too believe the North Vietnamese read the CONGRESSIONAL RECORD. According to Page Robinson, they certainly knew of the antiwar speeches that were made before.

...the POS got some microphones stuck in his face and now he's gone Hollywood. Murtha months ago comes up with some hard line questions of the military strategies in Iraq (this was back when 99% of the American People thought a Murtha was the forerunner of the Edsel) and the next thing, the blood sucking, carrion-feeding MSM news worms invited him on every bloody newscast from morning to evening and every Sunday show.

Murtha got to run home and watch his face on TV 24/7 and he was a goner. Stick a fork in him - he's no longer a Marine, he's no longer a Congressman, he's a Hollywood wannabe. :spit:

a person's moral compass is always pointing one way -- toward himself.

It's war -- so when can we start shooting back at the enemy Democrats?

Why Murtha, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world... but for press?

or Hollywood, or the evening news, or the celebrity circuit, etc.

Has the military ever stripped a retired veteran of his/her service record? The Marines should revoke Murtha's honorable discharge (I'm guessing he has one) and replace it with a dishonorable one. His medals, commendations, everything should be stripped. And done so in a very public demonstration. He is no longer fit to be called a U.S. Marine.
R.J.

the disgusting and the cowardly who is consistently referred to as an EX-MARINE by every Marine I know.

Please note that he never shows up at the Marine Corps Ball. There aren't enough armed security people in PA and DC combined to insure he would get out in one piece.

...anyone from the Administration or from the military or from Iraq (except for our enemies), I guess that leaves Grandpa Jack as the sole source of truth? Did he actually see his own Abscam tapes?

Murtha has actually succeeded in topping Harry Reid for sheer stupidity. And he did it by a landslide.

the outrageous statements of Murtha who declared that the Marines had committed “cold-blooded” murder of civilians in Haditha on November 19, 2005 and that the officers were covering it up. That statement was made before the investigation even concluded.

Marine Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Chessani is currently charged with failing to investigate and report 15 Iraqi civilian deaths in connection with the Marine response to that terrorist ambush in Haditha. And Air Force Lt. General Thomas McInerney has already publicly stated that all charges against the Marines should be dismissed because the Marines could not get a fair trial as a result of undue command influence, specifically referring to Murtha's statements.

I agree.

seen as victors when we leave Iraq. Nothing is more important than that we win and be seen as winning when we leave for deterance reasons if nothing else, and this "patriot" fears that his country be seen as a victor?

what gives

because that would destroy him and his party. As an aside, I've heard recent stories that some of those on the front lines in Iraq have tiny cameras attached to, or imbedded in, their helmuts to protect them from the type of witch hunt going on in the Hadifa incident. That can't be standard issue gear. If anyone has more info on this I would appreciate hearing about it. We have Murtha to thank for this, too. I guess the JAGS are the ones running things in Iraq, what with the restrictive rules of engagement. I can just imagine Murtha's reaction if we used a flamethrower on a cave in Afghanistan and some Taliban came running out on fire, similar to what we did in WWII on Iwo Jima. Sorry to ramble, but this guy makes my blood boil!

now your picture will be put next to the word "treason"in the dictionary.

I don't want him memorialized in any way, shape or form. It would be fitting if his name is totally lost to history.

To Murhta: The act of cutting the legs out from someone you asked to do a difficult task.

Ex: The congressman Murthad the army when public opinion turned.

How long did Dick Cheney serve in the military? How about Bush? Rove? Rice? Gonzales? Miers? Brown?

Amazing that anyone would attack someone like Murtha who has served his country bravely in uniform and speaks from the heart and is not following Party "Talking Points."

Do Ronald Reagan proud and wake up to the hypocrisy of the Bush Administration. True Conservatives need to finally wake up to the reality of the harm that is now being done to the Republican Party.

Thanks for stopping by, fascist: but I think that we'll keep the quaint notion of civilian control of the military for a little while longer.

Defending chickenhawkers ain't one of them. You got a problem with banning policy, take it up via the Contact Us button. You might find somebody more sympathetic. Might.

That's for the future. For the present, well, I feel personally offended by this suggestion that I'm not doing my job properly, so I really do think that an apology is in order, here. In your next post, unless you want it to be your last post*; in that case, I suggest that you contact B. Fred ahead of time and make it a good one.

Grok?

Mr Tread(or whoever) simply defended Murtha because of his long military history, not his ideologies. I'm not a Murtha fan either and I think his money laundering in the house should have him locked up. I am thankful however that men like he fought for men like me regardless of his party affiliation. This war has brought emotions on both sides and both sides have realistic arguments(sometimes but not always). You accuse Mr Tread of being a fascist for expressing his view. I called you on that accusation. If you're looking for a bobbing head lapdog that will nod in harmony with you for fear of being labeled a fascist or, God forgive, to be banned, perhaps I'm in the wrong place anyway. Accordingly, there'll be no apology.

Oh, I have no problem with the banning policy nor am I looking for sympathy as I can always find that in the dictionary somewhere between sh-t and syphilis. That's not being cute, just trite.

Sadly, most experienced military leaders agree with Murtha's plan for Iraq. Then again, most experienced military leaders wouldn't have invaded Iraq in the first place. Instead of wealthy, Ivy League ideologues whose service to their country is an American flag lapel pin it may not be a bad idea to start paying attention to our public servants with military experience.

That's not a request, partner. Oh, and by the way, before you look dumber talking about "Ivy League ideologues," (a) most are probably far more in line with your view than with conservatives' (or patriots'), and second, Gen. Petraeus - in charge of military in Iraq - is a Princeton grad.

Anything else? I'm happy to make you look dumb all day.

I'm an experienced military leader. In fact, in case you hadn't noticed, our CURRENT military leaders have more cumulative combat experience than anyone since WWII and Korea. Far more than Murtha, in fact. For example, I have over four years of combat experience and I would punch Murtha in the face if I ever got the chance. Does my experience count to you or what? It isn't just Ivy Leaguers that need to pay attention. Dig?

looks like time is up.
