Save a Rain Forest. Shaft a Veteran

The House is considering H.J. Res. 20, which I wrote about here yesterday. The legislation would fund federal agencies through the end of fiscal year 2007 with a total of $463.5 billion.
Rules Democrats, most of whom have gone on record saying they support the troops and are against earmarks, are starting to show they say one thing, but do another. 22 amendments were put up to improve the bill and the Democrats killed them all.
One amendment would have eliminated an earmark for a tropical rain forest project in Iowa and transfer the $44.5 million in funding for that project to fund veterans healthcare. The Democrats, determining that rain forests in Iowa are of greater value than veterans, killed the amendment.
Your Congress in action.

I agree with the fact that I can't stand this Congress, but it is your Congress. It's everyone's Congress, just as Bush is everyone's President, even if they didn't vote for him.
And, trust me, I'm not in a concilatory phase or anything. I'm ready to fight tooth and nail to get the Congress back in 2008. But I'm not going to say one thing about how the Dems have been acting the past 6 years, and then do another when we find ourselves in that situation. We don't sink to their level. We rise above what they throw at us, and win that way. Otherwise, all we are is the same bunch of jerks they are, just with better ideas.

Not mine either ... The hate-filled libtards in Congress are showing who they are, and everybody is watching. This clown shop is not ready for prime time.
The time will come.
Just like President Bush is every Democrat's President, this Congress is yours and mine.
The paleocons who sat out wanted to send. They knew this type of silliness would happen, yet "The Message" was more important than the troops.Nov 7, 2006 was a day of shame for those who sat out. You let KOS win.

It isn't my Congress. I didn't vote for these clowns, they don't speak for me or my family, and until they act like Americans, they will have no respect from me, institutions be d@#ned.
The Democrats won the last round because they wanted it more, and fought dirty to get it. Even if the GOP "finds it soul" and returns to conservative principles, we'll be forever wandering in the wilderness if we aren't willing to one of their's to the morgue when they send one of our's to the hospital. The House and Senate leadership should fight tooth and nail against every single Democratic proposal, no matter the merits, and make Pelosi, Reid, et. al., question why they ever wanted power in the first place. Any exhausted enemy is a weak and vulnerable one.
Maybe it's antithetical of conservative principles to want power and be willing to do whatever is necessary to seize it, or un-American to view your political rivals as "The Enemy", but of we aren't able to do so, the liberal Democrats have shown themselves well and capable of doing just that. We can either roll over and comfort ourselves with our principles as the nation goes to hell in a handbasket, or we can fight back.
It's your choice.
