Sheehan Threatens Pelosi

If She Would Only Do It.

The image above is from Ms. Pelosi's official website.

Cindy Sheehan, the "Everymom of the antiwar movement," plans to run for Speaker Nancy Pelosi's congressional seat unless Pelosi introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.

Sheehan is unhappy that the Democratic Pelosi - Reid Congress hasn't ended the War:

"Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership," Sheehan told The Associated Press. "We hired them to bring an end to the war.

So much for Sheean's resignation from the anti-war movement. Sheehan and her left-wing extremist handlers are trying to capitalize on the American Research Group poll finding that 45 percent favor impeachment of the president, and 54 percent favor it for the vice president.

Will California Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer warn Sheehan not to challenge Pelosi like Boxer did when Sheehan said she would run against California’s other Democratic Senator, Dianne Feinstein?

And let me know where to send my donation. This race would be maximum comedy.

This could be as funny as Lamont v. Lieberman. It's about time the leftward base got mobilized and rode the Dems into the eternal pile of marxian dung that is their true ideological belief system.

I'd rather see Gore get oxed than my ox get gored.

Boy, she really resisted the spotlight for a long time. Less than two months ago (May 28) she submitted her widely-publicized "resignation" from representing the anti-war movement because the left wasn't worshipping her and following her with unquestioning devotion. Below is from her diary on DailyKos:

This is my resignation letter as the "face" of the American anti-war movement. This is not my "Checkers" moment, because I will never give up trying to help people in the world who are harmed by the empire of the good old US of A, but I am finished working in, or outside of this system. This system forcefully resists being helped and eats up the people who try to help it. I am getting out before it totally consumes me or anymore people that I love and the rest of my resources.(http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/5/28/12530/1525)

Now she draws the media's attention by threatening to run against the Speaker of the House.

Andy Warhol never met Cindy Sheehan (nor the media folks covering her every time she breaks wind...which is indistinguishable from when she speaks). When will her nauseating 15 minutes end?

ok, Moe. Thought my comment would be seen by more folks here than on the other thread where I posted it originally, but if copy/paste of my comment from one thread to another is a no-no, now I know.

No worries, man.

A poll's giving the Usual Suspects hope. And by hope I mean "masturbation fodder," of course.

There's your problem... Democrats and their union labor probably don't go cheap. That or the mandated paid lunch breaks kinda diminished what your money could get you in terms of actual work...

Okay, I digress. But it seems so megalomaniacal to "hire" a political party that some snark had to be in order.

Cindy Sheehan has been hit with the ugly stick so many times that it made her dumb.
Go Dawgs, Sic em' Woof Woof

Ms. Sheehan's largely successful effort to sabotage the Iraq War effort was all the rage just a year ago. I wonder what changed? Oh, yes, new sheriffs and all.

So my question to progressives: do you turn on Cindy Sheehan now or wait until the two weeks passes? Inquiring minds want to know.

As the Senate Republican caucus splits and some decide close ranks with the Democrats to cut and run, and the Bush Administration begins to drop the unmistakable first hints of slow motion withdrawal, we all can use some amusement.

Run, Cindy, run. And if you win this House seat, turn your sites on Boxer when she stands for re-election. After all, the House is too crowded of a place for the self-aggrandizing and introspectively challenged. Slay the giant Cindy and you can join with the like-minded in the Senate in a few years. You can go to the top. Honestly.

for a war that Congress continues to fund, makes all the sense in the world!

anyone that loves political theater has to be salivating at Sheehan versus Pelosi. I don't think Sheehan would register more than 20% of the vote, and that is being kind, but in an odd and ironic twist of fate, she would make Nancy Pelosi appear moderate.

that someone could be to the left of Pelosi but it seems to be happening. In November I never thougt we could take the House back but it seems more and more likely to me now.

the devil has come to claim their souls.

...district
upper-income Republicans (such as there are) in the northwest quadrant, 60s-leftovers (Haight), ActUPpers (Castro), Indigenous Strugglers and IndyMedia (Mission), and Creative Class-ers (downtown) to the East and South, and sensible middle-class Asians in the southwest represented by Tom Lantos, Ms. Sheehan has more than a Snowball's chance. Her core constituency votes for their livings (and medicinal marijuana and clean needles) and is easily angered. Angry people with time on their hands vote (which explains some of the current Board of Supervisors).

If she can attract the alt-weeklies and splinter Kossacks to offset the Chronicle's and Demo power structure's rearguard action for the Speaker, Ms. Sheehan's chances are better still. Expect more camera-and-mike time for Code Pink.

Run, Cindy, Run!

"I find your lack of faith disturbing." -- Darth Vader

Even community activists with a base of community support have found it almost impossible to defeat the Burton machine, of which Nancy is the heir, by running from the left. I don't see how someone who doesn't even live in the Bay Area and who's never held elective office could possibly mount a competitive campaign against the most powerful House member in the country simply on the impeachment issue. The media will play it up, for sure, but even SF voters will not play along.

And Rightly So!

...and it's about "Anti-war" as much as "impeachment". A.N.S.W.E.R.'s been known to turn out a crowd, and infiltrate a movement (where did all those Mexican flags come from, and how quickly they exchanged them for American flags).

And Markos Moulitsas just a Bart tube away in Berkeley.

Not saying Cong. Sheehan isn't a pipedream, but I'd bet that the Speaker would actually have to come home and campaign in the primary, maybe even attend a debate. More than she ever had to do while I lived north of GG Park.

But when it comes to a ground campaign to convince voters and get them to the polls to vote, A.N.S.W.E.R. can't come within a parsec of matching the Burton crew. Besides, a sizable portion of A.N.S.W.E.R.'s supporters probably aren't even registered Democratic - and Cindy would have to defeat Nancy in a Democratic primary.

Markos won't give her open support since he's given no indication of planning his political suicide. Moreover, I don't think Cindy will impress too many SF Democrats when she starts talking about Israel and about domestic policies.

However, if Cindy's candidacy were to force Nancy to put in some appearances before her constituents, that would be healthy, not to mention novel. Even better if she has to participate in a debate.

And Rightly So!

The article said she would run as an independent. She left the Democratic Party.

She's now got the chances of a snowball in a steel furnace.

Thanks for the correction. Come to think of it, I do recall her making a public announcement some time back about leaving the Democratic party.

And Rightly So!

Just wondering if she could draw enough of the vote off for a moderate Republican to win.

After losing a close primary? And we had a really, really liberal Republican running?

...Maybe. It'd be worth taking the shot, at least.

The Fuzzy Puppy of the VRWC. I've been usurped!

Shucks, I'll vote for John McCain first.

The promised repeatedly in the fall that "impeachment is off the table".

Rassmussen says the impeachment number is 39% right now. This sounds about right and is not a particularly shocking number. The number was at 32-33% before Katrina and after the relatively positive Spring of 2005 -- when our Middle East policies were looking somewhat successful. This tells us that the largest portion of this number is folks who can't get over Bush v. Gore. Add to that at least 3-5% who think the amnesty bill was treasonous, and Voila!!.

Humorous to me is the idea that progressives think they are winning new converts. They aren't. In fact, I'm already starting to sense a backlash from moderate friends over the things the Democrats are doing versus the things they are not doing.

one little favor.

As a Marine I grieve with any family that looses a son or daughter in combat but Sheehan's grief? went way to far. Protesting in this country is her American right but when she goes out of the country and sides with a nation that is not friendly to America, then I see that person as a traitor. During Vietnam Jane Fonda went to Hanoi and sided with the enemy, was she convicted of treason, hell no, she was a star! and I still smile everytime I see a Jane Fonda urinal sticker. Cindy Sheehan went to Venezuela and met with Hugo Chavez. "The American empire is doing all it can to consolidate its hegemonistic system of domination, and we cannot allow him to do that. We cannot allow world dictatorship to be consolidated." This was a statement by Hugo Chavez about America.
Should Cindy Sheehan be allowed to run for office, clearly showing that she would align herself with a government that is clearly anti-American? NO! Will she be allowed to, probably.

I cant for the life of me comprehend how any American could support her running for office.

If Cindy won, Nancy would be out as speaker and Cindy would have no seniority. Just a loud mouth.

When you read the article about her reasons to impeach the President, I think she needs to take a basic government class like the one I have taught at our local 2 year college. Sheehan's reasons would not fall under impeachable offenses.

Aren't they just darling together?

Psh...loser duo it is.

Shouldn't she be running for something in Venezuela? /sarc

There is nothing lonelier than being a black Republican in Boston, Massachusetts

are substantially to the left of Venezuela.
