I thought Nancy was a dirty hippy peacenik, but apparently she is even more extreme than President Bush when it comes to weapons development.
As Jim Geraghty points out, Nancy Pelosi secured $4 million for developing a "novel viral biowarfare agent".
Surely that violates some sort of biochemical weapons treaty that Nancy probably waved in front of the Reagan White House in her younger days.
[UPDATE:] Jim just emailed to tell me that the news service that originally reported this (the mayor of NYC's company) has modified its story. The earmark will be used to combat viruses used in warfare, not actually create them. It would have helped if they said that the first time.

I would think with the update that this story should be completely retracted, or at the very least the title should be changed.

"No, I swear, I didn't earmark for developing a novel viral biowarfare agent, I appropriated $4 million dollars for developing a novel about a viral biowarfare agent!"
