Pay attention lefties. The GOP really tricked you guys today and, on the bright side, at least you know who your real friend are. The GOP machinations were, objectively, well played today.

in the Foreign Affairs Committee, Mike Pence offered up an amendment to legislation that would have condemned the MoveOn.org advertisement against General Petraeus. At the very same time as the Democrats on the Committee were voting to kill Pence's bill, the GOP House Leadership was making a motion to recommit Joint Resolution 52 with an amendment doing the exact same thing.

The difference, of course, is that the Motion to Recommit is a roll call vote that the whole House must vote on. So, people like Gabby Giffords (D-AZ), who took $7,000.00 in campaign cash from MoveOn.org, were tied up in knots in committee killing Pence's amendment, then had to run out to the House floor, thinking they had just saved the Democratic caucus, only to realize they'd been outmaneuvered and must now get on record with the full House on the same darn thing they'd just killed in Committee.

And how'd that work out for them? Well, Gabby Giffords, who voted in Committee not to condemn MoveOn.org, ran right out onto the floor of the House and voted to condemn MoveOn.org. She was joined by these other Foreign Affairs Committee members who did the exact same flip flop:

Committee Chairman Tom Lantos (D-CA)
Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY)
Rep. Bill Delahunt (D-MA)
Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY)
Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA)
Rep. Russ Carnahan (MO)
Rep. David Scott (D-GA)
Rep. Jim Costa (D-CA)
Rep. Albio Sires (D-NJ)
Rep. Ron Klein (D-FL)

Well played GOP. That's team work.

Oh, and for the record, of the 232 Democrats in the House, the only ones who voted against condemning MoveOn.org (I'd do the ones who voted to condemn, but there were just so many this post would go on forever) are listed here:

Abercrombie, Ackerman, Allen, Baldwin, Becerra, Berman, Blumenauer, Corrine Brown, Capps, Capuano, Castor, Clarke, Clay, Cohen, Conyers, Crowley, Davis (IL), DeGette, Ellison, Filner, Frank (MA), Al Green, Grijalva, Gutierrez, Hastings (FL), Hinchey, Hirono, Holt, Honda, Inslee, Jackson-Lee (TX), Jefferson, Johnson (GA), Jones (OH), Kilpatrick, Kucinich, Lee, Lewis (GA), Lofgren, Markey, Matsui, McDermott, McGovern, Meek (FL), Michaud, Miller (NC), Miller, George, Moore (WI), Moran (VA), Nadler, Neal (MA), Olver, Pallone, Payne, Price (NC), Rush, Ryan (OH), Sánchez, Schakowsky, Scott (VA), Serrano, Sherman, Slaughter, Solis, Stark, Tierney, Towns, Van Hollen, Velázquez, Wasserman Schultz, Waters, Watson, Watt, Waxman, Weiner, Wexler, Woolsey, Wynn and Yarmuth

Yarmuth by RC

Must have forgotten that he's representing a 50/50 district, and not San Francisco.

The last Democrat to hold that seat was Mike Ward, who voted against making English the official language. Ward lost in 1996 while Bill Clinton won 53% of the vote.

Yarmuth is going down in 2008 because he's a tone-deaf MoveOn Democrat. No doubt about it.

That is just priceless after his disgusting remarks to Gen. Petraeus. Thank you, thank you, thank you, GOP. You've made it a good day indeed. And thank you, Erick, for posting this.

Betray-us is A-OK votes...

Capuano
Frank (MA)
Markey - who's district includes the Natick Soldier Center
McGovern
Neal (MA)
Olver
Tierney

Add Delahunt's flip-flop and that's 8 out of 9 (with Me-Me-Meehan's seat, MA-05, currently vacant and up for grabs).

I suppose my congressman (Lynch) was either out of town or got a sudden dose of the smarts.

We cannot depopulate this nut-house into the loss of a congressional seat fast enough for my liking.
