Help David Obey Find the Circular File for Earmark Requests

House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-WI) has a problem. It seems that over 36,000 requests for earmarked funds have been made of his poor, overworked committee staff. The staff couldn't possibly review all those requests in a timely fashion, so--goshdarnit--Chairman Obey is just going to have to attach all those earmark requests to Conference Committee reports rather than have them stand for a vote on their merits before the Appropriations Committee or the full House.

But now you can help, thanks to the good people at Porkbusters. Just click on the Porkbusters logo and you'll be taken to an online petition where you can volunteer your time to help review the earmark requests.

As you know, Internet technology has made research faster and easier than at any previous time in human history. By releasing your 36,000 earmark requests publicly, I and other taxpayers across the country could work together in a cooperative effort to determine which Members of Congress may have financial conflicts attached to their earmark requests, which local projects may be unworthy of federal funding and which may have value to the taxpayers.

Take a minute and sign up to help Chairman Obey live up to the Democrats promise to run the "most open and ethical Congress in history."

it's quite a feeling knowing that I -- lil' ole me -- can be a big help to Chairman Obey. I look forward to receiving my pile of research material....

It's war -- so when can we start shooting back at the enemy Democrats?

I signed up to help Obey. I wished I lived in WI so I could help him come on back home from Washington too.

Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you. Washington Elected Elite
