this sharp today at 38. Man that was a great interview!

I was particularly interested in his discussion about school vouchers as I am trying to deal with a lot of stupidity on that front right now.

I was going to say to Pej, "you are not this sharp now!" :). Unlcle Milt is my political role model. I was so happy that after taking the political compass test http://www.politicalcompass.org/ , I landed smack dab on the spot on the graph held by Milton Friedman.

But we should not look backwards, although we might stand on the shoulders of giants, we should take their ideas and move forward, adapting them to a new age.

I've been having with openly socialist in-law on a family/friends mail list. When I gave him my signature line, he agreed that socialism has always failed when it's been tried, but gave the standard line that it failed because of the corruption caused by our current system. The guy is VERY intelligent, but was raised in a latin american country and attended a school run by the French. He's going to take some work, but I think I'll convert him eventually.

I've been trying to explain why I believe so vehemently in free markets and have been using many of Milton's ideas (though I am an imperfect messenger). A little more re-enforcement like this interview helps greatly.

Socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried and it's failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).
