Ben Cardin can't remember when the Patriot Act originated -- think he even remembers the event that prompted it?

Ben Cardin was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1986. The Patriot Act was passed into law in October of 2001.

What do the two have to do with each other, you ask? Well, in the below clip, you will hear Ben Cardin clearly state that "the Patriot Act predates [his] election to the United States Congress."

That's funny -- not only would it would appear that 1986 still "predates" 2001, but it would also appear that Rep. Cardin should know full well when the Patriot Act came into being, as well as when it was renewed. After all, he did vote against it initially, and then support the Patriot Act Reauthorization bill earlier this year.

The Patriot Act was deemed one of the most important -- and nefarious -- pieces of legislation to be passed since 9/11 by Cardin and his allies on the Left. If Rep. Cardin can't even keep it straight, then how in the world can he justify the promotion he's demanding?

Please, get on the phone, and help Michael Steele and the rest of the GOP ticket this election.

What a freakin idiot. I have political ambition, but sometimes I wonder if I have what it takes. Then I see people as dense as Ben Cardin RUNNING FOR SENATE, and I think...gee...it can't be THAT tough. LOL

last night, but called 30 in ohio. tried to resubmit for another 30 but the original list kept popping up.

any ideas? cache memory issue?

No, that one's too big to miss. Perhaps he was thinking of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

Or he could be stupid and/or making stuff up as he goes. Like Nancy.

has been in congress for a long time! Therein Lies the Problem.

MD do yourself a huge favor and elect Michael Steele!!!

I'll remind him to do just that. It seems that Ben Cardin is determined to give examples of how Leftists and Dems are living in the past anyway.

I'm sure he'll claim that the Patriot act predates his LAST election to the congress (in 2004). But what do you expect from the party that redefined the word "is".
