In light of our editorial from the wee hours, we are hearing from multiple credible sources Mike Pence will announce he is running for Minority Leader later today. Likewise, John Shadegg will announce he intends to run for Minority Whip.
Both men are expected to wait for Speaker Hastert to announce he is going to the back bench.

Hastert, Boehner, Blunt-all gone. They did nothing but lose this election for us. The good news is that, with a strong presidential candidate we can win many of the seats we have lost back.
What about the Senate? I am thrilled with Mitch McConnell, but who will be Whip? If I may make a nomination . . .Jon Kyl

Boehner didn't get a full term as Majority Leader and, really, didn't do that bad a job. But one of the silver linings of defeat is not having to settle for less than your best. Let's go for our best.

We shouldn't dwell on them, but we should learn form them.
One is that if Shadegg had been leader, all would be different.
I guess Pence not running for Majority Leader before was a good call.

Hastert has said he will not go to the back bench. Most expect that he will be true to his word and will resign his seat in the House altogether. He said he has no interest in being Minority Leader and apparently thinks being a back bencher is not something a former Speaker should accept.
Expect that announcement shortly.

If "pro" is the opposite of "con", what is the opposite of "progress"?
This is the same Pence who proposed a multi-trillion dollar immigration plan? That Mike Pence? This is the guy you all think is some small government, fiscally conservative hero?
The madness is spreading.
I hope Kay is on leadership for the Senate. I think we need a woman, and she is super popular.
How about Tancredo? Real immigration reform is wildly popular and a "wedge issue" between democrats and independants.

Just read Pence's statement on The Corner. It is terrific. The RNC's statement, however...not so good. Statements about "Bipartisan solutions" are incongruous with "conservative reform". We did not know how to govern as a majority. Pence and Shadegg give me hope that we will do better in the minority and therefore regain majority status soon.
