How 'Bout a Little Union-Backed Election Fraud?

From Acorns Grow Mighty Oaks of Corruption

Excellent editorial in today's Wall Street Journal about recent federal grand jury indictments of Acorn, a union front group that the Journal rightly calls the, "shock troops for the AFL-CIO." The indictments allege even more voter fraud against Acorn. Says the Journal:

"We wish this were an aberration, but allegations of fraud have tainted Acorn voter drives across the country. Acorn workers have been convicted in Wisconsin and Colorado, and investigations are still under way in Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania....

Acorn and its affiliates have pulled some real stunts in recent years. In Ohio in 2004, a worker for one affiliate was given crack cocaine in exchange for fraudulent registrations that included underage voters, dead voters and pillars of the community named Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Jive Turkey."

So when you hear allegations of voter fraud these next weeks and months, remember Acorn and all they stand for. From Acorns grow tall oaks of corruption.

Is it legally possible for the Dept of Justice to ban ACORN from registering "voters" in light of all this?

by state and local officials in Blue states or big Blue cities; they're in on it. We need to put at least the cities under the same kind of federal supervision the Southern states and Western states with large Indian populations have been under using the authority of the Voting Rights Act. I like the irony in that as well.

Democrat voting fraud negates my vote just as certainly as onerous poll taxes or subjective "literacy" tests negated minority voting in the past. There is a lot (way too much, actually) of power in the VRA if one is wont to use it; the Fed can do pretty much what it wants to assure that one has a meaningful right to vote. So if the local Election Board won't verify ID or the State courts won't allow it, put the Election district under federal supervision and put an FBI agent or two at the polling places.

Of course, the Left and the Poverty Pimps will howl "racism" but they do that anyway. So what?

Great idea! If the feds can put entire states under supervision for what happened decades ago, then surely they can put a few big cities under federal supervision for what is happening NOW.

Who's got Alberto Gonzalez' email address?

... and 12 (out of 25) Smart Cards are missing from Bishop Byrne High School on E. Shelby Drive in Memphis (where the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is already reviewing reports by the Shelby County Election Commission that two people have voted twice during early voting .
These "Smart Cards" activate and control voting machines.

So you should be able to request copies of their financial statements. :)

those financial statements would be eligible for the Pulitzer Prize for fiction.

...there's got to be some serious jail time for somebody in here somewhere.

"Political Activities- Finally, the OIG and the Subcommittee independently found evidence of political activity by grantees of the Corporation. Most notable in this regard is the OIG's findings on the apparent cross-over funding between ACORN, a political advocacy group and ACORN Housing Corp. (AHC), a non profit, AmeriCorps grantee. The OIG recommended, and the Corporation agreed, to suspend AHC's funding after it was learned that AHC and ACORN shared office space and equipment and failed to assure that activities and funds were wholly separate. The Subcommittee held a hearing on this matter where it was revealed that AmeriCorps members of AHC raised funds for ACORN, performed voter registration activities, and gave partisan speeches. In one instance, an AmeriCorps member was directed by ACORN staff to assist the White House in preparing a press conference in support of legislation. AmeriCorps members were also directed to encourage their clients to lobby on behalf of legislation.

They are a union front, are funded by the unions.

trail would show that most, probably all, of the money is compelled dues unconstitutionally converted to a "social, fraternal, or political" activity. Where's the USDOL and IRS when you need them?

Bush has been unable to place any appointees in the USDOL. When I retired in July, I was still dealing with the same old Clinton holdover in USDOL and they were doing the same old Clinton things

Since this is a Blue State thing, mostly, even when the employees sue or get the NRTWC to sue for them, they wind up with some Democrat judge who won't certify a class or some other obstructionist thing and grind the employees down. And in the public sector, you don't even have the minimal protections of the LMRDA, so you wind up with going into a hostile court as your only recourse.

The law on dues usage has been settled for over twenty years, yet it is simply flaunted and defied in every Blue state and even the Red ones that have unionized public employees, mine included.

Good that the WSJ has covered this story. But frankly, it's a bit tame.

This is just the tip of the iceburg. WSJ and other media need to investigage the massive blocking efforts of libertarian/conservative petitioners in Montana, Missouri, Nevada, Nebraska, Michigan and other states over the summer, sponsored by ACORN, AARP and other leftist groups.

They also need to investigage the MASSIVE voter fraud for Democrats in extreme southern California (Palm Springs/El Centro/Calexico/Indio). Dems routinely sign up non-citizen illegal aliens who speak only Spanish to vote. They threaten them, saying if they don't sign up, they'll be reported to the Border Patrol.

ACORN was among the "usual suspects" plaintiffs in recent federal-court litigation overturning Washington's statute requiring that a voter registration application match either a WA driver's license or a social security account.

BTW, unmatched registration applications didn't result in automatic rejection, merely a follow-up inquiry to the applicant inviting supporting documentation. And, in addition, individuals with disputed registration could still vote on Election Day (just via provisional ballots).

Isn't it obvious that ACORN wants as few impediments as possible to registration of otherwise-unqualified voters...and for that matter "voters" that don't even exist.
