In which we 'Swiftboat' Senator Kerry yet again...
...By which, of course, we mean "quoting John Kerry's own words back to him" (H/T: Dan McLaughlin).

Here's a hint to Kerry's handlers: it's bad when the right wing nut-jobs have a quick fight over who gets the byline of publishing your press release.
...What? No, really, this is the actual title.
Read on.
Washington – Senator John Kerry issued the following statement in response to White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, assorted right wing nut-jobs,
(brightly)
Hi!
(/brightly)
and right wing talk show hosts desperately distorting Kerry’s comments about President Bush to divert attention from their disastrous record:
“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.
I’m not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq. It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.
The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.
Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they’re afraid to debate real men. And this time it won’t work because we’re going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq.”
Guess that means the following things:
1). Al Gore's just gotten some unexpected competition for Most Amusing Popping of a Vein in a Frothing Rage Before the 2008 Election Contest.
2). Several thousand readers across the left-wing blogosphere just had an involuntary orgasm.
3). We can safely assume, now, that Senator Kerry was in fact against the Iraqi liberation. Which is a relief, frankly, because damned if he didn't go an entire Presidential campaign without making his opinion clear on the matter.
4). Tony Snow should have been hired years ago.
As for the substance... ach, well, show me some and I'll comment. I'm seeing a good deal of angry man-child posturing - "...afraid to debate real men"? What noble thing have we done, Senator Kerry, that you would give us of the VRWC such a precious gift? - coupled with a remarkably overt playing to the crowdlet wrt to the war. Body armor, Katrina misled to war, chickenhawking - all he needed to do was add a bit about MIHOP/LIHOP, depleted uranium and the Jews and he'd be the new shining light of the antiwar movement. I can predict with some certainty that we'll see quite a few "Why couldn't he have said this during the election"? posts out there.
I wholeheartedly agree, by the way: why couldn't he? We could have used the help in some of those close Congressional races.
At any rate, there are a bunch of conservative Democrats out there running in this go-round, apparently: I cannot wait to hear what they think about all of this. I mean, surely they all agree, right? They're Democrats, too, right?
This is what the Democrats all believe, right?

It's hard to accept seriously that your opponents are Howard the Duck Dean and John F'nStupid Kerry without them being plants (either in the vegetable sense or in the double agent sense)

Rove was this smart. This was his October surprise. Unbelievable.
Now if only the Republicans will follow it up in their campaigns with the appropriate statements, ads and questioning of their opponents.
think the dem's could keep thier P's & Q's in check this long. I will be looking for more gaffs in the comeing days as dems try to defend or reflect John Kerry speaking exactly what the dems think.

Or did anyone else hear that response in the voice of Daffy Duck?
How in Heaven's name did Karl Rove manage to fit into the John Forbes Kerry suit?
Must be South Beach.

"Kerry’s troop-bashing remarks belie the truth about the educational level of U.S. troops. According to figures readily available on the Internet, 99.9 percent of the enlisted forces have at least a high school education, 73.3 percent have some college, 16.2 percent have an associate’s degree or equivalent semester hours, and 4.7 have a bachelor’s degree.
What’s more, over 85 percent of field grade officers have advanced degrees – 70.7 percent have master’s degrees, 12.1 percent have professional degrees and 2.5 percent have doctorate degrees."

he's not in any toss-up election... so his statement's kinda irrelevant this round...
but it's interesting to see that this story is top, front page, not something about McCaskill or Ford or Cardin...
Maybe it's the Anti-RoveTM plotting a distraction from Republican GOTV efforts.

guess it was the same, no?
Most of the candidates I'm working for are running against the incumbants, not directly against the President. It seems to be working. Let you know 11-8-06 =)

Can't even be bothered to run against Bush, she is running against a "child molester" 1000 miles away.

can't be bothered either. He'd rather run against Rep. Nancy Pelosi. Hastert HEART Pelosi. She's in a district more than a 1000 miles from him.

I look forward to seeing you back here on Nov 8, offering up excuses for why you guys just cannot win.
exactly how you libs think. Your true mind set could not contain itself. The only way the dems can win either house of congress is to appear conservitive in key races. Now these supposed conservitive dems will have to take a solid position on the real issues istead of saying "me to, me to".What I think we will now see is a bit of cannablism

Iraq? Ask him. He'll tell you. He becomes over-puffed (if that is possible) and awash in self-righteous indignation when and if his true passion for our warriors is questioned - for good reason or ill.
Anyone here on RedState wish to wager just how long and under which circumstances those troops become: 'mass murders, rapists and out of control drug abusers' as have all we Vietnam veterans?
Kerry's carefully selected words seem to guide us toward the notion that HE was (is) a 'real man' and a true war hero - rather than the shallow, craven, medal-begging, traitorous poseur he really is.
He is certainly accomplished in one aspect of his patriotism: He has now 'dissed' American fighting men and women over two generations and two wars - and has lived to lie about it. Let's not even go into his theatrical medal tossing charade way back in the seventies when men were men and Kerry was not; and never to be.
He is the gift that keeps on giving - like a bad oyster or the 'mystery meat in a Tijuana taco.
Wnen WILL someone take this simpering wannabe out behind the woodshed and teach him some manners.

"Suppose you were a congressman, and suppose you were an idiot. But I repeat myself." - Mark Twain
This is a non-story.
Elections are looming, people are disgusted and this is precisely the kind of "contrived hysterical" non-issue and inconsequential political huff-puffery that angers most of the public. This flap changes nothing for most people accept possibly making them more disgusted than they already are.
Kerry's "joke" was in bad taste. He mispoke and botched it. I don't care what his intent was, he's a fool for trying to be funny with such a loaded issue. The errant comments of one Senator are not that important and matter little to the maleable, non-political public.
On the other side, few leading Republicans, in reality, really care what Kerry says or said. This story is simply a political tool being pushed to deflect attention onto to the Dems.
And while the liberal and conservative blogespheres eat this story up for their own reasons, and cable news jumps all over it for an easy story, little of it matters to the masses.
Don't tread on me.
The libertarian masses that voted for Badnarick in the last Presidential election.

from my comments if you will. I've spoken my opinion. And taken as a whole, the point I'm making is valid. If my premise, which haven't engaged, doesn't interest you or merit a real discussion IYO, then we have nothing else to say on this issue.
Don't tread on me.
I guy came into my office, saw the whole Kerry broohaha on TV and just shook his head and said:
"who the hell cares?. Why don't talk about something important for once. All this s-(!)-t turns people. These guys just don't get it".
thought I'd throw that in.
Don't tread on me.
And what might "something important" be? Presumably its something more important than a US Senator expressing his contempt for our troops.
And this asshat Senator has the audicity to malign the troops who are fighting it. Troops who, by the way, are volunteers and whose reenlistment rates are soaring.
John Kerry is an offense to this nation.

How whenever you hear someone say we need to talk about issues its because they don't like the topic of the conversation.
the fact is that we shouldn't let people like Ford, McCaskill, Casey, and Webb avoid the fact that John Kerry has lost his mind and Kerry has bashed our troops.
No mercy for people like Kerry. He attacked the intelligence of our troops, and his party will be held accountable.
We'll win on November 7th if we establish momentum.
This is the Wellstone Memorial Moment of 2006.
He told us exactly what he thinks of the US military. If you want proof, simply look at his record, this fits in precisely with everything he's ever said or done regarding military service.
And to quote John Edwards, "If you want to know about John Kerry, just ask the men who served with him." Thank God for John O'Neill and the SwiftVets.

If you listened to him speak there could be no doubt. My own impression was I couldn't believe such a pathological liar opened up his true feelings on television.
You'd think Kerry would say something to that effect. I'm not a member of the VRWC, and I'd seriously like to know what he meant or whether his remarks were taken out of context.
Instead, all he does is rant about right-wing enemies . . . as if reasonable, moderate people can't possibly have legitimate concerns about what he said.
And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the—of—the historical customs, religious customs.
Our troops are not only stupid, they are terrorists as well, according to Mr Kerry.
"The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals..."
How does "Katrina" fit into that thought?
Does Kerry have Tourrette's?
For the record, I always thought he was talking about GWB, but far be it from me to cut him any slack...Regardless of interpretation, it was definitely a case of "open mouth, insert foot."
...YOU owe an apology!! YOU owe an apology!!"
Way to turn it around there, Senator. Except that you forgot to insert 'Halliburton' into your inapt references.

This is the mindset of the liberal party. This is how they think and feel. This was not some ereent comment by some out of touch Senator.
So yes it does matter what he said. Yes it is a real story that should be given attention. If you read the news on a consistant basis it would be very clear for you how all the strings come together. This is the mindset of the dems.

There was no joking manner about kerry when he maligned our brave men and women who are in Iraq and other places to save the behind of traitors such as kerry. He simply thinks he is superior to anyone in a uniform and I would be happy to be able to tell him that he (kerry) is not fit to be on the same planet with them.
I think we are going to hold both both the House and the Senate.

All that is required to derail democrats is to quote them accurately.
