Florida state Representative Joe Negron has been selected to replace the disgraced former U.S. Representative Mark Foley.
Foley's name will remain on the ballot and Negron will receive votes cast for Foley:
"My job beginning immediately is to get word out to all these absentee voters and to everyone else in this race that you are not voting for Mark Foley, you are voting for the Republican nominee, and I'm not Mark Foley," Negron said.
According to The Buzz, the St. Petersburg Times' political blog, Negron has nearly $1 million left over from his aborted campaign for attorney general, most of which can be used in the congressional campaign. Negron withdrew from the race for attorney general after he concluded he had no chance of winning the nomination against former U.S. Rep. Bill McCollum.

because some people might have a bit of psychological block about putting a check next to Foley's name. But they don't want to vote for the Dem. Better they write in Negron's name -- but only if it would count.
