A day after Pennsylvania's Harrisburg Patriot News reporter Brett Lieberman reported reported that the Republican Governors' Association (RGA) was "bailing" on Lynn Swann – "With Swann down by as much as 20 percentage points in polls, who could blame them?" Lieberman wrote – RGA Chairman Mitt Romney, governor of Massachusetts, was in Philadelphia this morning to campaign with Swann.

The Swann for Governor press release reads:
Today, Massachusetts Governor and Chairman of the Republican Governors Association (RGA) Mitt Romney joined Republican gubernatorial candidate Lynn Swann to highlight the revival of faith and urban economic development in Pennsylvania.
After meeting with clergy members from Philadelphia and the surrounding region, Romney and Swann were joined by area community leaders and over 100 supporters at the Enterprise Center. The Philadelphia Boys Choir also performed.
“My faith has played an important role in shaping my values, my goals, and my vision for leadership, and I understand the impact that faith-based organizations can have in the lives of our children and in our communities,” said Swann. “As Governor, I will follow Mitt Romney’s lead in Massachusetts and work with our community leaders to revitalize our neighborhoods and provide a better economic environment right here in Philadelphia and across the Commonwealth.”
Lieberman had written:
After giving Lynn Swann's campaign $300,000 earlier in the election cycle, the group is putting its resources elsewhere. Six states where Republicans are hopeful or still battling close races - Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Michigan and Oregon - are being targeted. Pennsyltucky [Pennsylvania] isn't among them.
The RGA today made a $250,000 contribution to Lynn Swann's campaign.
The political press in Pennsylvania, for what it is worth, has been, in one manner or another, selling Rendell for the better part of the year. Lynn Swann has had to appeal directly to the people, and Mitt Romney and the RGA deserve the thanks of all Pennsylvania Republicans.

While there is no doubt that we need to get rid of Rendell, Swann is not going to win this race. He was the wrong candidate from the beginning. This race was over before it started.
