John Orman, a political science professor at Fairfield University, and critic of Senator Lieberman, is the new chairman and the only member of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party.

Lieberman formed the political party after he lost the Democratic primary to Lamont.

After Lieberman won the November election, Orman contacted the secretary of the state, learned the Connecticut for Lieberman Party had no registered members, switched his registered affiliation from Democrat to Connecticut for Lieberman:

"Then I went home and called a meeting of all registered Connecticut for Lieberman members to reflect on our party's victory in the U.S. Senate race (and) organize and submit rules to the secretary of the state," Orman said.

He nominated himself chairman, seconded the nomination, cast his vote for himself and proceeded to establish party rules.

Orman said the "party" is upset that Lieberman has abandoned it and says he is an "Independent Democrat."

"I want to organize it as a group that will keep (Lieberman) accountable," Orman said. "It will be dedicated to critics, opponents, bloggers. . . . I'm just trying to carry it to the next step."

There is a serious side to this. Orman is continuing to challenge the legitimacy of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party. Perhaps the professor has made his point. Still, it is a good thing that anyone who can get enough valid signatures is able to get on the ballot in Connecticut.

How strangely ironic that the VP candidate of the man who tried to sue his way into the Presidency (Al Gore in 2000) could have his own candidacy litigated.

One thing which is not in doubt: Lieberman received more votes for Senate in Connecticut than any other candidate.

This is probably going nowhere, but stranger things have happened in court. Think Tom DeLay.

The bad news: Conservatism is hard to sell. The good news is that it works.

A bit less than it'd take to get someone on the Senate ballot in, say, Pennsylvania.

Perhaps this is Orman's hobby, and in that sense, it is healthier than a few other recreations.

Perhaps this is prescribed therapy. He might have had an episode after Ned's defeat and this was prescribed by his doctor, kind of a play-acting program.

Behold the British Reformed Sectarian Party. This is a registered political party in the State of Florida. Near as I can tell, it has one member. It has a Chairman, a Vice-Chairman, a Secretary, and a Treasurer, making in all, one:

    Chairman - Thomas J. Kelly.
    Vice-Chairman - Thomas J. Kelly.
    Secretary - Thomas J. Kelly.
    Treasurer - Thomas J. Kelly.

What does the British Reformed Sectarian Party stand for?

We seek to outlaw the boom-boom-boom bass laden music which reverberates through businesses, restaurants, schools and residences all throughout Florida.

A few powerful state legislatures, the governor or the police and sheriffs departments could easily build a consensus to say enough is enough and force these outrageous noise makers off the streets. Car windows vibrate, you can't concentrate or listen to your own music, their license plate is vibrating and you just have to sit there.

that's a cause I could get behind! funny stuff. and even though the prof. in the OP is a moron, that's very funny too.

Isn't Lieberman a member of the Connecticut for Lieberman Party??
