Remember the Republican Tightwads

A few weeks ago John Shadegg gave almost $700,000.00 to the NRCC to help keep the House in Republican hands. Mr. Shadegg does not really have a competitive race. There are other Republicans also in safe districts, but they have hoarded their money and are not helping the GOP effort.
We should remember them and, should we lose the House or Senate, we should really remember them.
In the House, Henry Bonilla (R-Texas) has $2.2 million on hand right now. Don Young (R-Alaska) has $2 million on hand. Joe Barton (R-Texas) has $1.7 million on hand. (SOURCE)
The Senate, where losing means we lose the last best hope to reform the Supreme Court, is even more critical. Most of the House members, understandably, need to hold on to their money for their own tough races. But, there are Members of the Senate who do not have election contests this year, who are not helping the cause.
Read on . . .
Richard "C for Cakewalk to Re-election" Shelby has $11.6 million on hand. Kay B. Hutchinson has $9.4 million on hand. Even Orrin "Will Never Be Voted Out of Office" Hatch has $2.9 million on hand. Just think what $1 million could do for Mike Bouchard or Michael Steele or Rick Santorum. (SOURCE)
Then, of course, there is John McCain. He only has $1.1 million on hand. He's ranked 43 in the Senate for cash on hand. But what about Straight Talk America, his PAC? It's got $500,000.00 laying around, and it'd have more to give to embattled Republicans if Senator McCain wasn't so busy spreading the wealth around local politicians in Iowa and New Hampshire. In fact, in September McCain only gave about $8000.00 to Republicans running for Congress and over $28,000.00 to local people in Iowa and New Hampshire. Contrast that with Mitt Romney who gave over $40,000.00 last month to Republicans up for re-election in Congress or Rudy Giuliani who gave close to $100,000.00 to Republican federal candidates, in addition to $15,000.00 to the NRSC. (SOURCE)*
I think 2006 is a bit more pressing than 2008.
When leadership battles loom large after the election, let's be sure to pull back up this post and remember who had and refused to share. And let's remember who had and gave willingly in the example of John Shadegg.
*To John McCain's credit, he is leading Romney and Giuliani overall for the year in contributions to federal candidates, so we can't be too hard on him. But, it is crunch time now.

He's not saving money because of his current district. He wants to run for the Senate as soon as Kay drops out.
A million bucks means another week on Detroit TV hammering Stab-a-cow.

How can we make them give?
Senator Shelby is here.
Something polite and respectful is best, flatter his ego by telling him he can save the party and the country. Actually that part is true.
Who says we're going to lose the House and Senate?? That sounds defeatist to me. Bush and ROve don't think that!
We could put one to three Senate seats into play in our favor and/or five to 10 house seats with $1,000,000 or two.
My guess is McCain has raised more money for candidates than any other Senator or Governor. His fundraising is mostly done by having events with a candidate (ditto Guiliani). Shelby and Hutchinson on the other hand should share a bit more.
The only one there I could see needing the money later is John McCain; Hutchinson/Shelby/Hatch are not only going to be in office forever, but they're not going to run for President (again, in Orrin's case).
Money can win NJ, MO, VA, and TN. MD and MT are the longer shots. I'm iffy about MI, though I'd love to see him win.

That if you were to ask a candidate, he or she would rather have McCain's PAC give him some money instead of a fundraising visit. That's not to minimize McCain's contributions, it's just that his money at this point is more useful than his pretty face and shining disposition.
I must preface this by saying I'm a big KBH fan. She has said that her PAC has contributed quite a lot to candidates, and she is helping out with the Sekula-Gibbs thing. I'm wondering if she isn't saving her money for a VP run ... I think she'd make an interesting VP candidate to complement Rudy or Romney from the North against Hillary.
I agree witht he above sentiments as far as McCain is concerned. I hadn't thought of a KBH VP run. Even if, do they really expect very much cash out of a VP?
It seems like her million now would be a lot more useful in the Senate than it would be as one of 300 million in a Presidential race.
And Shelby? Well, there's no excuse on Shelby.

Leave Bonilla out of it for now, he's in a marginal redrawn district.
But the rest of safe incumbents need to help out.
TX Republicans need to help out TX-22, the write-in candidate is GIBBS.
