The Security of This Country is Not a Game

Can we afford to elect a party that treats it like one?

That's the question a new ad by David Zucker asks. It was prepared for the GOP, but the Republicans have rejected it as being over the top. I actually think it is perfect.

Watch it here:

Hat tip to Matt Drudge.

PS - Were Zucker a commenter here, he might have won the contest!

What could they find "over the top"? I thought it very clever, entertaining, and mild.

And it is the kind of ad that will garner a lot of free runs on the news shows.

of "Airplane!" and "BASEketball" fame? Great ad. Makes all the salient points, but in a lighthearted and easily understandable way. I think this would appeal to the under-40, college-educated, South Park conservatives out there. And it shows that not all Republicans are a bunch of stodgy old farts in suits that sermonize all the time. That some of us actually have a sense of humor and creative minds!

(Not saying that I believe the stereotype, of course, but sometimes that perception in the MSM is hard to rise above).

This will undoutably appeal to college age kids and those just above them. South Park Conservative is a good label that fits perfectly.

to get this ad out there and into the minds of younger voters! There's more of us young conservatives out here than you'd imagine, and more still that just need an encouraging push in the "right" direction. People like me are the future of this party, and the leadership needs to wake up to the fact that sometimes you should take a risk and step out of the same old playbook to appeal to those voters. We love our liberty and we stand by our military and we see conservatism as the only way to keep America strong for our future.

Hey, if we ARE going down to defeat this fall, wouldnt it make sense to make in-road to the future?

This is over the top is why the GOP is in dire straights.

"Peace had a chance"

this way. All with the Republicans being able to stay above the fray (even though I wish for them to be in the fray).

When I clicked through to it, I recieved the comment about it being "objectionable comment."

Gee, wonder who whined to get that string pulled. I wonder if that means below 21s can no longer view it on You Tube.

It was marked potentially objectionable by the User community. Of course now that the Marxists at Google have bought YouTube with sucker money, what can you expect.

Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.

The bit with madeleines skirt splitting was inappropriate and uncalled for. The rest was spot on.

but otherwise, well done and hilarious (though I think it should zoom out after Kim dunks the ball and show it to be a 6-ft hoop :P)

Have you ever seen Spongebob Squarepants? That happens to him all the time. I remember ads for a freakin toy version of him that does that over and over again. I think the target age for that show is about 4 years old.

Well, if the Republican suits in the beltway thought the add was too far over the top, I'm glad Drudge was kind of to let the world know about it. In my opinion, we need to pull out all the stops. Put it on TV! Perhaps the reason Republicans are in trouble is because so few are really willing to tell it like it is.

If the Democrats can't take it, that's their problem.

Even if the GOP won't run the ad, plenty of people are seeing it and commenting on it. Right along with YouTube's heavy handed attempt to stop people from seeing it.

I would've never seen it if not for that. I don't have and I'm not going to be making a YouTube account. This makes it look like it has sexual content in it. Unbelievable.

I would've never seen it if it was flagged that way originally.

My download speed is too slow and I've never seen a way to download it and view it all at once. Sigh. Right now, I really wish I could play.

you should be able to start playing and then pause it to let it fully load (even with broadband I do this).

This ad would be perfect for someone to buy ad time during, say, South Park or the Daily Show, and run it repeatedly between now and the election.
