RNC Chairman Robert M. “Mike” Duncan today released the following statement on the Louisiana elections:
“Today was a great day for the Republican Party and, more importantly, a great day for the state of Louisiana. Bobby Jindal’s positive message of economic opportunity, ethics reform, and tough action against crime clearly resonated with Louisiana voters, who soundly rejected the Democrats’ failed leadership and negative attacks up and down the ballot. I am proud that the RNC’s significant investment in this race paid off, and even more excited about the message this sends across the country: Republican candidates who are true to our Party’s fundamental principles win at the ballot box. Congratulations to Governor-elect Jindal, to all of the new Republican officeholders, and most importantly, to the people of Louisiana.”

I just took a spin around the MSM web sites and they seemed to have missed this one. The liberal media has gotten so nakedly bias it's alarming.
I guess there too busy covering Val Plame's new book "How to play the victim and strike gold with the MSM."
Nevertheless, they can't diminish the significance of this GOP victory. It seems the people of LA know who was really to blame for the mishandling of Katrina.
Go, Bobby!!!
It's as unsurprising as it is disgraceful.
-------------
Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock.
For this to happen is just a repudiation of all those months the MSM spent smearing Bush over the Katrina debacle. It's a repudiation of their best efforts. I can still hear Anderson Cooper, Tim Russert, Keith Oberman and Chris Mathews yodeling like cats on moonshine about the failures of George Bush and FEMA. They hurled buckets of watery feces on Bush and the GOP trying to paint us as heartless, racist incompetents.
After all that, the people of LA have turned around and said, "Hey, we think the Republicans will do a much better job of taking care of the state than the Dems ever did." Ouch!
This is as big loss for the MSM as it is for the Dems.
But, keep in mind that Gov. Blanco probably performed the worst out of the 3 governmental executives involved (her, Bush, and Nagin). I thought Gov. Blanco was a disgrace in that whole deal.
And I think this election tonight is a rebuke to her. Many, many people in Louisiana are still pretty upset at the federal government's response, too. And I think they're justified in thinking that.
FWIW, I think the fault there isn't actually so much with Bush as it is the limited capacity of a federal agency to move a) that quickly, and b) in that magnitude. It was a huge city being just about completely demolished.
This is a great win tonight. Bobby Jindal has a lot of potential and he belongs in an executive, rather than a legislative, office.
The country is upset with republicans especially LA. Therefor reporting this would convey a false impression. /snark

If things go south in 2008 (and they might very well), Govs. Jindal and Palin would be THE combo to clean-house in 2012.
and congrats to the people of Louisiana, you got it right this time.

after a long, long night.
For the first time in years, perhaps generations, the prospects are bright for the Pelican State. Won't be easy -- graft and malaise have been the way of life since most people there were born.
But Bobby's the man for the job.
It's war -- so when can we start shooting back at the
enemyDemocrats?
