Have you given to Jim Ogonowski yet? The Democrats are worried about this seat, and they should be.
To be sure, Ogonowski is not the pure through and through conservative I'd like. But frankly guys, we can't expect that in places like Massachusetts if we want to get back in the majority. Sometimes, in some places, we have to accept that there are people to the left of us who still vote "R."
I'm not saying I'd back Ogonowski if he were in Georgia or Texas or Missouri or even out in CA-04 where the incumbent Republican is to the right of Ogonowski, but also probably on his way to jail (you can give to Eric Egland here and help take back CA-04). Nonetheless, in MA-05, he's the best we've got and we should be willing to take him.
Right now, he needs your help.

It's in the bank. Believe me, what this state needs is more Republicans in both houses of the Legislature, more than anything else in the world.
I don't post often, but in special elections turn-out is key, as it will be very low. The main men at Red State with connections to the campaign should find out if there is a ground game and to what extent it is being built. We should ask if they are canvassing the district and finding out who our supporters are. I know this all sounds academic, but in a small special election where we are underfunded these sorts of things can be put on the backburner. Once we find out the status of their gound game, we here at Red State should try to put together a canvassing campaign to turn out voters on the day of the SE. If we do we can send a shockwave through DC and shatter the aura of inevitability the dems are building for themselves in the left leaning press. In closing, we should find out what we can do to help and get all New England Red Staters helping out in MA-05
for Ogonowski and the response was fantastic. The campaign needs your help for the final 96 hours. What they really need are poll watchers and canvassers on election day. If you have a vacation day TAKE IT! and drive up.

Although I'd focus on the many things where Ogonowski does agree with most Rs. And for a 57% Kerry district, there are more of those than one might imagine.
He is also a veteran and has a compelling personal story. Further, he is mapping how an R challenger can run against DC and insiders in both parties. That might be a good plan in 2008.
