Truly Excellent

I'm not one for exaggeration but it is clear to me that Bobby Jindal's election as the next Governor of Louisiana is a truly transforming event for the state of Louisiana. Louisiana has endured so much graft, so much corruption and so much incompetence that futility seemed to be embedded in the state's DNA. And yet, with Jindal's election, the state has a chance not only for a fresh start but for a complete 180 degree turn for the better.
I have written in the past about my respect and admiration for Bobby Jindal. Of course I stand by my arguments but it is especially wonderful to note that the people of Louisiana have validated that judgment. And they did so despite Jindal's young age, despite the fact that in the past, his ethnic background led his political opponents to make thinly disguised racist attacks against him and despite the fact that Jindal got outspent by a ratio of 2 to 1.
To paraphrase George Gipp, the breaks could have beaten the Boy Wonder. But they didn't. Louisianians quite clearly have had enough of incompetence and failure. In Bobby Jindal's example, they have found the very antithesis of incompetence.
Louisiana still has some serious challenges facing it. But for the first time in memory, it also has hope with which to confront those challenges. And yes, in 2012 or 2016, lots and lots of people will look to moving Bobby Jindal from the Louisiana State House to a certain White House in Washington, D.C.. It may seem presumptuous to write this kind of thing now. But given Bobby Jindal's gifts, talents, industry, ideas and commitment, I think it is safe to say that he has earned the presumption.

since reading so many glowing things about him. Any negatives I ever ran across were lefty and Dem smears (makes him all that much better). I can definitely see supporting him for President! He has really got the goods. Dems' worst nightmare.
Hooray, Bobby!
You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.
I live in Georgia but my family lives in Bogalusa. (Washington Parish) Most voted advance and voted for Jindal.
I spoke to my Mom and Dad Thursday and they were upset at the negative attacks and were afraid Jindal would lose so they voted early and called the relatives to make sure they voted.
I told my Dad that I thought the attacks would back fire and Jindal would win easily.
Many people were saying "what if" in regard to the election in 2003 and the Katrina aftermath. They realize Blanco botched the whole Katrina thing before and after. They also know that Jindal would have handled things much better had he been elected.
"I can definitely see supporting him for President!"
If he lives up to his potential, so can I see supporting him in a future run for the presidency. He's got a lot of work cut out for him in Louisiana. I don't know if anyone can really clean up the cesspool that is LA but if anyone can, he can, but it's been crookeder than a WV road for longer than I've been alive.
He's got a hard time ahead. I thought WV was the most crooked state until I lived in LA for awhile.
The good guys finally win one! If he lives up to his potential, Louisiana will finally move out of its third-world like status and surpass many other states.

So many firsts:
1. First non-incumbent to win without a runoff.
2. First non-white Governor of Louisiana since reconstruction
3. First Indian-American Governor in U.S. History.
4. First person who truly has the know-how and political skills to clean out the sewer of corruption in this otherwise wonderful state.
And what's best about all these things, is that we didn't go looking for Jindal, he came looking for us. He proved he was the best, and was rewarded, not because of his race, but because of his merit. And the fact that can happen in a state where David Duke once got 38% of the vote is significant for America.
The media will barely notice of course, since he's a Republican. But this is great on so many levels.
