"A Movable Cage."

Yup, the antiwar movement going after military recruiters. Charming people, aren't they?

I'm a peaceable man, so I'm going to not say the first four things that came into my head after reading this - fortunately, I can safely note the fifth, which is that Fred Phelps and his ilk really do fit in with the rest of the antiwar movement - and instead just join the exasperated group of people who would like to know what our current Democratic candidates for President feel about all of this. I see no reason not to duplicate Chicago Boyz' question, which boils it down nicely:

Senator Clinton? Senator Obama? Do you condemn this protest in Pittsburgh? Do you condemn all protests which attack and degrade and insult our military personnel who are recruiting for our all-volunteer armed forces? Yes or No?

No speeches. No flatulence. No blather. You want to be Commander in Chief.

Yes or No.

Tell us.

Yes, I know: ever the optimist, I am.

You have a better chance of seeing those protesters jailed.

Cain too?

Where is he on this? No, I mean literally, WHERE IS HE?

I'd find out what time they planned to be there. Make SURE the station was open. Have them "force" me into the moveable cage and make sure they all get charged with kidnapping along with a host of other class 1 felonies and get them put into non-moveable cage for 20-life.

Socialism doesn't work. It looks nice on paper, but it's been tried and it's failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).

I (was) with Fred!

I know things went badly during the Viet Nam era, but this is getting absolutely ridiculous.

I say lets take the movable cage and bust them over the head with it. I'm just sayin'

Since you bring it up and it is now a running theme in other threads.

The "Reply to This" and the constant imbedding is a complete distraction to an avid print reader like myself.

I use outlines and forms to create text and prose, not to read it in some sort of dialogue.

After about 3 or 4 levels of "Reply to This", my screen is reduced to about three words per sentence, especially since this site devotes two column widths to advertising and navigation panels.

There is probably some fancy way that I can trick my computer into giving me more screen width and reduce your advertising but that would require me to actually become interested in this machine which I have no desire to learn, only to use. Maybe this is what you intend so that it will automatically cut down on discussion since then dissenting views will be too hard to read?

But I guess you (the moderators and editors) are trying to create some ground rules so people don't play the "are you referring to me" invictive. And the problem here is that you assume that written words are a critique or attack made personally at the author. My words are always observations or opinions based on the theme at hand. I take nor intend offense to anyone on here - we are allowed opinions and they are stated as such.

I vote for "stop being so uppity". I do not use RTT simply because I don't want to start a war of words. My comments are almost universally on the theme of the thread however it gets moved by commentary.

I guess I will now be banned for life because I don't like this editorial style. I understand if you remove this comment.

person to which you are replying further down the thread by using the subject line.
We do that sometimes to avoid the skinny thread because it can get silly pretty quick.

For example-if you are replying to Jeff, just put his name in the subject line and start you reply. Just like I did yours.

General snideness isn't up to it; try calling us racists next time.

PS: But you will use Reply to This. We use it to keep straight who said what, and to whom; and nobody's paying you to read this site, so deal, already.

(pause)

Although if somebody is paying you to read this site, drop us a note via the Contact link. I wouldn't mind that gig myself.
