And so we wait for the Great Obaman Reversal on Iraq.
We also wait for everyone's June fundraising numbers, but that's a different issue altogether.

Like Glenn Reynolds, I am nigh-breathless from waiting to see how long it'll take for Senator Obama to finally integrate objective reality into his Iraq position, which is slowly but surely looking more and more absurd every day. As Brother Soren notes, Obama's surrogates are already doing an admirable job of muddying the waters, but the IDB/TIPP poll referenced (but not linked to) in the link above is grim news to anybody wanting to cut and run. When you have half of independents and 45% of Democrats now disagreeing that the war is lost, you have a problem with being a Democrat running on a campaign that the war is lost.
So... we wait for him to cave on his most fundamental, bedrock policy position. I expect that it'll be right after that trip to Iraq and Afghanistan that the VRWC shamed him into making. And when he does, the derision and mockery that will ensue over this last, best betrayal of the progressive netroots will make our reaction to the Democratic cave on FISA look like an Elks Club Amateur Comedy Night.
Just thought that I'd share.

PS: Exit question, as Allahpundit would say: Do you think that the netroots support the Democratic Party in the same way that I was a New York Mets fan, growing up? Because damned if I can see how they're getting any practical return on their money, particularly when it comes to foreign policy.

When he's on the stump with his chin raised and trying to look so authoritative I just bust out laughing! How on earth can anyone think he's all that. Knowing what WE do know as fact about him, just makes him so ridiculous. He's a lia..untruthful and hangs out with the scum of the earth, can't hold a stance on any single issue except the war, and is doing all of this in plain view because he gets so much air time.
I agree he will be changing his tune on the war on terror because he will soon have no choice, because to keep in line with his present view will only make him look more incompetent.
...due to the severity of the flip of course.

he cannot flip no matter how badly he needs to do it. The Left will forgive anything from him but this; it would be a bloodbath.
The progressive faction of the Democratic Party has let itself be used - take that any way that you like - for the last forty years; there's probably enough room for one more betrayal by their establishment. On the other hand, we don't elect peaceniks President of the United States. There's no give there.

If he were elected, I'm not so certain. But right now, this is the one and only thing I can see that would set off a firestorm among progressives. When we consider the many flips he's made, they have all been when majority opinion put him there. Here, although it would be atrocious not to change positions, he probably won't lose anyone he has if he stays with his withdrawal plans. The reverse isn't true.
I will be fascinated to see how he plays it either way. This is one area where I might consider an Intrade buy.
But if they firestorm, and still send him money (which is what they typically do), why should he care?

as long as they keep saying "one last time" but never follow through on it. Until they stop writing checks and voting, they will always be taken for granted.

just as Obama has lied about prior support for gun control, public financing, town hall debates, Jerusalem, Reverend Wright, FISA...
why would it make a BIT OF DIFFERENCE when Obama comes back and says "I had nice meetings, things are going pretty well, and I will be able to withdraw brigades roughly every few months as circumstances warrant"
Who is going to point out his prior lies?!! The media?!! The invisible McCain communications team?!! The GOP in the Congress which seems to have dropped off the face of the earth?!!

The NRCC called the other night asking for money for various election strategies, etc.
I told them "No Way" siting just what you say: When is the GOP going to point out Obamas prior lies ?!!
The media sure won't and you guys are invisible ??
McCain communications team ?!!
The GOP in the Congress which seems to have dropped off the face of the earth?!!
The caller from NRCC couldn't/wouldn't answer ??
Sorry, but is this not exactly what he said during his fox news interview back in April? OBAMA: "I will listen to General Petraeus, given the experience that he has accumulated over the last several years. It would be stupid of me to ignore what he has to say." Am I missing something here. It appears that McCain will jump on anything and everything. Just my opinion.

I have a good friend who is a lifelong Dem and an Obama supporter. He was easier to live with when I realized that he is a fan rooting for his favorite team, rather than someone who has core leftist principles. I've got about 4 more months to get him to start thinking, but I don't have a lot of hope. :)
