Breitbart & Thompson

Andrew Breitbart, of Breitbart.com has a new venture called Breitbart.tv. It's quite a nicely designed website and has an exclusive interview with Fred Thompson, which you can see here.
By the way, it is rather interesting to note how Fred Thompson is bypassing traditional media outlets in favor of blogging here at RedState and video interviews with Andrew Breitbart's website. My unverified suspicion is the knowledge that bypassing the traditional media keeps a buzz going, but because new media still gets less traffic than old media, there is not so much of a worry about market saturation -- keeps people salivating without feeling full.
That's just my guess.

...perhaps Fred is side-stepping traditional media so he can be asked real and revealing questions as opposed to questions like:
1. What don't you like about America?
2. Would you make Tom Tancredo part of your Cabinet?
3. What would you say to the Catholic bishops?
What's the story with those two? It looks to me like they've got some kind of alliance going on? Could make for a seriously powerful media force.
He may also be using the web since he can reach a smaller number of folks with whom he can test the waters. Instead of going too big too fast, he's starting small. I would think the big question in his mind is whether people will still love him once the honeymoon ends. What are his views on immigration, for example?

Other links might be better. One statement he's made is something like "Secure the borders first, then worry about the 'comprehensive' solution."
I'd vote for him on the basis of that alone, assuming he isn't a personal friend of Jeffrey Daumer or Ted Bundy.

It seems that Fred! is using a new and better model of campaigning.
Traditionally a person would decide to run for POTUS, announce it, go to the big-money donors for contributions, then try to convince us (voters) that they are the best. If they don't get the funds from the big-money donors they drop out early.
Fred! brings his ideas to us (voters) first THROUGH THE INTERNET. If we like what we see and a positive reaction is somehow conveyed back to the big-money donors, Fred! will announce his candidacy.
I like the fact that we (voters) have a little input at the beginning of the process. It avoids the proverbial South Park General Election scenario where a "giant douche" runs against a "sh*t sandwich".
The only problem is that if it works for Fred! in this cycle, it's sure to be perverted for the next cycle by the left.
I'm one of those waiting for Fred Thompson to announce his candidacy.

With malice towards none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God gives us to see right.

It's obvious that Fred's eventually going to run. I think he's using some very new, very innovative tactics, with the strategy being just about what you wrote. Stay fresh and save money while doing it; get one-on-one exposure, not just being one of ten; take the opportunity to state his beliefs clearly and without interruption.
It's almost the equivalent of Harry Truman's whistle-stop campaign in 1948. In fact, it is the modern day equivalent of it.
His speech Friday night (I only saw the parts after 8:30 MST) was superb in those respects. I have yet to hear him say anything that I substantially disagree with. I think there are a lot of us out here.
