Clinton's Calculated Cackle
Or Hillary Goes Dean

Last Sunday, September 23, 2007, Hillary appeared on all five of the major morning talk shows. During each appearance she let loose a demented sounding cackle.
The New York Times' Patrick Healy reports that Hillary's cackle is a reaction to pressure:
And then, less often but more notably, she copes with the pressure by using The Cackle. At Wednesday’s Democratic debate, for instance, former Senator Mike Gravel complained about her vote on an Iran resolution and said he was “ashamed” of her. Asked to respond, Mrs. Clinton laughed before responding, as if to minimize the matter.
I disagree. I find the Clinton Cackle, like her feigned twang, to be just another one of her politically calculated staged behaviors.
Hearing the Clinton cackle, I can't help thinking of Howard Dean's yowl. That yowl forever pegged Dean as a raging lunatic.
Will Clinton's calculated cackle have a similar result? There are already at least six YouTube videos of Hillary's cackle. The most viewed video highlights Hillary laughing off Senator Mike Gravel's complaint.

it's that DC irrational exuberance, I fear.
This woman is cold and calculating; there's not a prayers chance in hell she experiences any 'nervousness' during a debate or interview. Anything she does has purpose and it's why she is an extremely dangerous debater. When you look at her tactics, she has a multitude of weapons, the least of which is the cackle. She uses is that to give herself space between the quesiton and response; gives her time to formulates her answer. It also conveys to the moderator or host that she considers the question to be either stupid or silly, or just plain beneath her. Add to that, her overall demeanor, tone of vice, and her biggest weapon, her rolling eyes. If you think Bill got sympathy w/his biting lip; you watch her and tell me if you don't think she has him beat.
Bill was a natural, she is a robot. For the life of me I cannot understand anyone supporting that fake. I guess they think they are just getting Bill back in office.
It would be the perfect job for Bill. He travels the world on the taxpayer dime, partying and talking big with no responsibilities or accountability.

She is the most unhuman human being I have seen in my entire lifetime. There is not a shred of sincerity in her and "shrill" doesn't do justice to her voice and persona. She could cut steel with that personality. No one who honestly views and examines exactly what we'll be getting in the Oval Office would ever vote for her. Notice I said "honestly views and examines." Plenty will knee-jerk vote for her. But she plays badly on TV and even worse online. She is not going to wear well over the next year and in fact isn't wearing well already.

A commercial with all of Hillary's greatest laugh hits. She's thinks everything is so dang funny doesn't she?
It's not just a cackle, it's condescending. It belittles the questioner, which is so Clinton like. It is her way of shooting the messenger.
It's funny how there are all of these comments about Hillary's "cackle" and no one points out the strange tic George Bush employs in uncomfortable situations. I'm no fan of Hillary's, but I think George Bush's way of half smiling with the confrontational and threatening bar-fight look in his eye is much more disconcerting.

This Hillary cackle is TRULY scary! Yikes!

I think you need to fix the "most viewed video" link.
I have asked people who saw her last Sunday to describe her laugh and "cackle" rolls off their lips after the breakfast of thought.
She might mean to deflect challenges with a laugh but the type of laugh must not be calculated. The poor thing is naturally endowed with a cackle for a laugh, just the thing to torment poor Dorothy.
