Don't Know Much About History

Does Paul Krugman actually hit the books from time to time? Does he consider any of his arguments in a historical context? Does he wonder at any point whether he is drawing false analogies? And does he know anything about the political process?
It's writing like the kind that Lindsey so rightly skewers that makes me wonder about anyone who praises Krugman's intelligence. Or shall I believe instead that he is as deliberately misleading as he is intelligent?

Krugman is very intelligent. He just believes "the little people" are not worthy of the truth.

And the reason you're bothering to read Krugman is...what? Too much time on your hands, perhaps?
A better use of it would be to study the chemical processes behind petrification or perhaps the Hahn-Banach Theorem. Just about anything would be better than Krugman.
