The Cop Killer Caucus is one of those caucuses on the Hill that is not, for obvious reasons, an official caucus, but is more of an ignoble designation of 31 members of Congress.

Back in 2006, the city of St. Denis, France decided to name a street honoring famous cop killer and probable Obama supporter Mumia Abu-Jamal. The House of Representatives passed H. R. 1082 to condemn St. Denis's action.

The vote was 368 to 31 with 8 people voting present and 25 people not voting.

Steve Pearce, now running for the U.S. Senate from New Mexico, voted to condemn the action.

Tom Udall, Pearce's current opponent, voting no -- Udall had no problem with St. Denis honoring one of America's most infamous cop killers and became a member of the Cop Killer Caucus.

The F.O.P. has endorsed Udall.

Udall also was a co-sponsor of Kucinich's Department of Peace.

In the words of John Lovitz (impersonating Mike Dukakis): "I can't believe I'm losing to this guy"

Even though you would think that law enforcement organizations would support conservatives, they are still a union, and if we have learned anything about unions, it's that they value the interest of the union - usually in the form of more funding, benefits, pensions, etc.
