Kudos to Governor Romney for emphasizing in a simplistic, but profound way, the importance of social conservatisim in the Republican Party's "belief system":
See, we do have nice things to say about Romney here at RedState. ;)

So sayeth Frank Luntz's focus group:

it seems that Romney will never get a break with Alexham. Romney says it and it is "simplistic," but Thompson or someone else says it and it would be "eloquent." and the sarcastic winking emoticon afterward just rubs salt in the wounds. i think he is affirming that he can't say anything nice about romney, or any mormon for that matter.
(1) Alex is Catholic.
(2) The wink was aimed at how we've trashed Mitt on the front repeatedly, not at Mitt.

What does Alex being a Catholic have to do with his not having anything nice to say about Romney? Are you saying that Alex will not say anything nice about Romney because Alex is a Catholic? I suspect that this is probably the case. Alex is probably just trying to refight the Reformation, and the Mormons seem like as good a place as any to start.
Take a page out of Governor Cool's book and chill.
They that are with us are more than they that are against us.
Alex: This is great advice for you. I don't know why you have chosen to refight the reformation by attacking the mormons. Maybe you think they are easy prey. Maybe you think of them as somehow being "pseudo-protestant." Frankly, I imagine that I would have a very difficult time trying to understand why you do anything. However, what is very evident is that, for reasons that are inexplicable to me, you are virulently hostile to the mormon faith. You should be ashamed.
You Romney people really are in serious need of counseling. If I were an anti-Mormon bigot, why in the world would I do a positive post about him?
And what proof do you have that I am refighting the reformation (a historical process having nothing to do with the Mormons)?
1) You have thrown out the "B" word. Not me. All I was responding to was Thomas' post about your being Catholic. When I read your post I had no idea about your faith.
2) I think we can all agree that this is the first (and probably last) "positive" post that you have made about Romney. While we are on that subject, let's analyze your post for what it really was: a put-down disguised in a smiley face.
3) If you would like for me to put up evidence that you are refighting the reformation, I would be happy to do so. Exhibit A would be your apparent and self-evident hostility toward the mormon faith (a protestant sect of Christianity - I am sure that you will recall that protestantism was born out of the reformation; thus, I think there is SOME relationship to Mormons). Let's see who you go after next on the basis of their beliefs. Huckabee is a Baptist minister, and therefore, seems an ideal candidate for your attacks.
I'll leave that for you to decide, though.
How in the world do you know whether this is my last positive post about Romney?
If my post was intended to put Romney down, then why in the world would I use the word "profound" to describe his statement?
Feel free to put up your evidence. I honestly can't wait to see it. As for my hostility toward the Mormon faith, only a moron would think that based on this post.
It truly is amazing to me that you are able to discern my character and belief system from this one post. You truly are a remarkable individual. Is your last name Hewitt?
I am not trying to refight the reformation. And if I was, I certainly wouldn't mention or "start with" the Mormons. Quite frankly, I don't see how Mormons (or LDS, if you like) are even a part of that theological discussion.
A few things.
(1) Learn to read and reason before posting here again.
(2) The use of multiple accounts violates our terms of service. I've disabled your other account.
(3) The next time you make accusations, have data to support them.
(4) (1) and (3) are not optional requests.

Take three minutes and peruse Alexham's previous posts. Guess who he - a Catholic - goes after by far the most? It's Giuliani - another Catholic.
(a) Grow up.
(b) Read before you open your mouth and beclown yourself yet again.
(c) Grow up.
The "simplistic" probably wasn't called for, but this isn't the right time to complain. This is a good post that makes a good point.
They that are with us are more than they that are against us.
File this post under the "no good deed goes unpunished" category.
This post was meant to be a tip of the hat to Romney. I thought it was a great statement on his part, and I wanted to give him credit for that. I didn't use "simplistic" to be insulting, and if that's how it came across, I certainly apologize. It was meant to be a compliment to Romney for explaining the matter in a way that was easy to understand. I would have thought that my calling his statement "profound" would have made that clear, but apparently there are some Romney supporters who are so thin-skinned about his candidacy that they are unable to accept a simple compliment given to their man. How sad.
Hey Alexham, just wanted to say good post, and as a Romney supporter, would beg you to not generalize the asinine complaints of these precious few (or one, evidently?) as the sentiments of the camp. Some folks seem to have their defenses up and their claws out all the live long day, bless their hearts.
Good post.

He should take Romney as his VP. I think he would prove to be invaluable. We could have 24 years of uninterrupted Republican reign in the Oval Office. Just think about what the Supreme Court would be like!!!
