Hastert Supports Romney

Former Speaker of the House, Denny Hastert, is going to come out in favor of Mitt Romney today, according to the Politico. The Politico, a new political news organization, finally has it's site up and running. You can read Jonathan Martin's post here on the matter.
I'm surprised after all of Hastert's antics this past year (in his freezer . . .) that anyone really wants his public support, but he is still a big name (no pun intended) in the House GOP and can probably help pull others over.

I don't think that this and the rumored endorsments of Boehner and Roy Blunt, are meant to get the average voter on board for Romney. Rather it shows that McCain is not the DC annointed one as the MSM is going on. I am sure McCain would have loved to have these future endorsements.
It also chips away at those who argue Romney is small fries compared to Guiliani and McCain.
With Romney being the house favorite among the leadership it does begin to chip away at McCain status, gives little breathing room for other candidates and shows that he is a DC outsider that can gain support in and out of DC. With Romney attracting the house and McCain shooting for the Senate, that leaves the Capitol police for Guiliani and the National Park System for Brownback.
How does a Hastert endorsement "begin to chip away at McCain's status"? Would the same be said if Hastert had endorsed Giuliani? How does it chip away at those who argue that Romney is not yet in a league with Rudy and McCain?
Really, I don't think this either hurts or harms Mitt Romney? An early endorsement from one of the poster boys of Republican decline is not something to be sought; likewise, though, it is not something to be spurned. It's just something to be spun, I suppose.
When key Republicans leaders sign onto Romney it shows that McCain's lead as the establishment is not as uncontested as portrayed in the MSM.
Is this 100% evidence? No. But it does work to that end in a positive step. Weill HAstert bring in votes? Probbaly not, although he does a good fundraising nerwork as do Blunt and Boehner.
If these guys signed on with Guiliani I would probably give credit to Guiliani for it too.
by Hastert and Boehner and Blunt is going to help him with the base. I for one am ambivilant about Mitt, but with these endorsements, Franz, Prince of Dogness is looing better all the time. Now if Hagel will just endorse somebody Franz is a lock.

with the Republican Party. What, is Romney leaving a trail of loose change or donut holes for Hastert to follow?
Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.
And I will continue to support Romney in spite of Hastert's support, for the time being. LOL

Another sign that Romney is becoming the anti-McCain.
