Hillary is Rocky Balboa!
"I know what it's like to stumble," says she.

They're on there way to Denver, and Hillary informs is that she's Gonna Fly now.
From the Associated Press, in Philadelphia, PA:
Recalling a famous scene on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art from the 1976 Oscar-winning film "Rocky," Clinton said that ending her presidential campaign now would be as if "Rocky Balboa had gotten halfway up those art museum steps and said, 'Well, I guess that's about far enough.'"
"Let me tell you something, when it comes to finishing a fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit. I never give up. And neither do the American people," Clinton said in excerpts of prepared remarks to be given Tuesday to a meeting of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO.
It's a movie, Hillary. If Rocky had quit running up those stairs, the audience would have muttered and tossed JuJuBes at the screen. If you were to withdraw now…

If Hillary were to suddenly decide to quit, Obama would have time to heal the rift with the dedicated Clinton voters. He could convince these Democrats that, hey, he's the future. He's the party, and he's going to take back the White House for the people who work hard to be represented. He'll let them know that together, the can change the dynamic in this nation, proving once and for all that we are a nation of hopes, of dreams, of unity.
If she does not withdraw, the party's wounds will be kept open, with acid added, and the nation will elect a maverick war hero with a conservative bent.
"But one thing you know about me is that when I say I'll fight for you, I'll fight for you," the New York senator said. "I know what it's like to stumble. I know what it means to get knocked down. But I've never stayed down, and I never will."
Cue Chumba Wumba. (The song, like the candidate, is pure 1997.)
For Barry's part (from the same AP piece):
Obama refused on Saturday to go along with other Democrats who are calling for Clinton to drop out of the race.
"My attitude is Senator Clinton can run as long as she wants," he said.
Karl Rove told Sean Hannity last (Monday) night:
[I]t does the Democratic Party no good to look like they're pushing her out of the race. The smart person in this is Senator Obama who has tried to strike a note of graciousness that it's up to her to make the decision, that she has ever right to run. Now his language portrays a little bit of exasperation. You'll notice he said my attitude is that Senator Clinton can run as long as she wants to. Her name is the ballot. My attitude and her name is on the ballot, a little dismissive.
But the point that he was trying to make is that it's up to her and she has a right to do it, is correct. Nothing is going to change between now and April 22. There's going to be a vote in Pennsylvania on April 22nd and all of these calls for her to get out are going to fall on deaf ears.
They're going to Denver. The only thing which would make this more mirthful, methinks, is if Hillary were to try to run up all 99 steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art every day until the 22nd. And BTW, Hillary: Rocky ran up only 72 of the 99. That's a little more than half, and don't tell us that you directed that movie and had to dodge sniper fire while climbing Mount Everest to Yankee Stadium to do it.

No, Bill was sparring w/ Adrian in the oral office.
Time to trot out Stallone, "I created and played Rocky Balboa 7 times, and Hillary is no Rocky Balboa."
Ask not what I can do for my country, ask what my country can do for me. Washington Elected Elite
Then does that make Obama Appollo Creed or Clubber Lang?
Hill: Hey yo, Carv, why do I gotta chase this chicken?
Carville: Because I said so kid. And if you can catch this chicken, you can catch greased lightening.
What's so funny about all of this, is that Sylvester Stallone endorses John McCain!
The story is here:
McCain said in response, "I'm going to Philadelphia and running up the steps."
Cute.
but I would love to see her try and waddle up those steps. And yes, she belongs in a museum, a wax museum.
One thing Rocky lacked, self pity, after years of plain adoration still Hillary has enough for both of them.
"a man's admiration for absolute government is proportinate to the contempt he feels for those around him". Tocqueville
As I had to explain to my wife when she watched Rocky for the first time (hey, she was born 4 years after it was made, I can't blame her, she still hasn't seen Star Wars. I know, I know.), Rocky lost.
You see, Hillary, it wasn't about winning, it was about standing toe to toe with the champ and going the distance. It's akin to running a marathon to finish, not to win (some skinny Kenyan is going to win the marathon). Ironically enough, some skinny son of a Kenyan is going to finish first here too. Heh.

According to Senator Clinton:
"Let me tell you something, when it comes to finishing a fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit. I never give up. And neither do the American people," Clinton said in excerpts of prepared remarks to be given Tuesday to a meeting of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO.
And what are your plans for Iraq, should you become President?

I hate to rain on 5 parades, but that last sentence *only* resonates on Republican/Conservative blogs. Among the people Hillary is courting, it's a perfectly honest statement of her intentions. Her plans are to do exactly what she has said she would, and among the people she wants to vote for her instead of Barack Obama, it's one of her more powerful arguments: that she will end the war.
On her website, and she means it. And the people who are voting for her are doing so because she means it.

...and given her commitment to cut-n-run, isn't it just an awful, horrible, hypocritical, transparent, pandering, patronizing, BS-dripping, stilted, poorly-delivered, worm-eaten excuse for an applause line?

I can unequivocally say I will not be running for national office in four years.
