I Bet Even Harry and Louise Were Offended

I guess they are still bitter. H/T.
And a thought: you know who might find that this is a good time to speak up for small central Pennsylvania towns? Lynn Swann, that's who.
UPDATED: McCain calls Obama's refusal to disavow his statements "defining" because it suggests that Obama really thinks that people's values on fundamental issues are shaped by economics - and we know that if there's one thing that's a constant in McCain's value system, it's that there are things more important than money:

I think Bush is much better in impromptu speaking events. It's in prepared speeches where McCain does better.
“.....women and minorities hardest hit”
It detracted from what he was saying.
"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it."
-Thomas Paine: The American Crisis, No. 4, 1777
although usually it's the impromptu give-and-take that he usually excels. This sounded like a prepared text; I thought he drilled Obama but good, but the false note was feeling like he had to keep repeating "elitist" and "out of touch".
"No compromise with the main purpose, no peace till victory, no pact with unrepentant wrong." - Winston Churchill
Remember, though, he'd just given -- or was just about to give, I'm not clear on the timing -- a speech which hit on these same points, so that might be one reason it sounded a little rehearsed.
It was quite obvious which part was something that the campaign aides told him to say (the beginning) and which part was him snarking off (the six shooter portion @ the end). Unlike every other politician alive, McCain is incapable of reciting talking points and staying on message. And it comes off a bit stiff.
As for the person who commented on McCain's prepared speeches... you've seen in give said speehes??? It can be pretty ugly sometimes. There's more than one picture of Saltar cringing when McCain's giving a speech.
As her hastily recorded tv spot indicates, Hillary is going to waste no time whatsoever defining Obama in rural Pennsylvania as an out of touch elitist from Chicago. Granted, Hillary can't really talk, but hell, I'm not going to stop her from doing the GOP's work for them. You can be sure that Hillary, Ed Rendell, Murtha, and all of HRC's minions are going to be pushing this narrative until next Tuesday.
I absolutely love the fact that Hillary is spending millions to define and attack Obama for the GOP.

Obama says that economic interests trump any "emotional hot button issues."
Let's put his theory to the test with an experiment!
Do we have a hard-left antiwar activist who would like to volunteer for this experiment?
Medea Benjamin of Code Pink, step right up!
Ms. Benjamin: Obama says that economic interests trump "emotional hot button issues."
OK. Name your price. HOW MUCH MONEY WOULD YOU CHARGE TO ABANDON YOUR OPPOSITION TO THE IRAQ WAR AND BECOME A PRO-WAR HAWK?
One million dollars?
TEN million dollars?
ONE HUNDRED MILLION dollars!
ONE BILLION DOLLARS! You'll be rich beyond your wildest dreams, Medea!
....
Now, let's try the same experiment with a devout Christian. Do we have any truly devout Christians here?
Ah, here's one!
OK. Name your price. HOW MUCH MONEY WOULD YOU CHARGE TO ABANDON GOD, ABANDON JESUS, AND DEVOTE YOUR LIFE TO WORSHIPPING SATAN FROM NOW ON?
One million dollars?
TEN million dollars?
ONE HUNDRED MILLION dollars!
ONE BILLION DOLLARS!
....
Now, a question:
Which of these two people will fold and abandon their most cherished principles first? Medea Benjamin, the atheist pacifist? Or the devout Christian?
Any guesses?
Then again they never understand that faith is a source of strength that allows people to do remarkable things.

As an atheist, allow me to say "that ain't the case" but hope that we can agree that this is probably not the best thread to hammer out this particular disagreement.
Man is free at the moment he wishes to be. --Voltaire
interesting voltaire quote.
I wonder... from whence doth man secure the freedom in which he may "wish to be [free]"?

Have you ever suffered from Male Economic Dysfunction?
Are you frustrated because economic conditions in your small town have not improved?
Do you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night with a bible in one hand and a gun in the other?
Have you found yourself irrationally lashing out at recent immigrants just because they don't look like you?
Have you soured on the idea of free-trade?
Well, you are not alone! You, and millions like you, suffer from a condition known as

The LAST thing those folks wanted to hear at a fundraiser was issues like hatred of religion, guns and support for homosexual marriage. NO! Those SF liberals are all about economic populism don't you know.
Meanwhile, I'm stuck here in middle america, bitterly exercising my first and second amendment rights.
Would now be a good time to ask Obama about his opinion (given he was a constitutional law professor for 12 years!) on the SCOTUS 2nd Amendment case? I'm not sure anyone has pinned him down on that issue, I wonder why?

She comes across as wooden and badly acted. Makes it seem staged. The others aren't so bad but they don't have enough it to overcome the problem.
