I think this is my favorite Mitt Romney ad

And I think he's going to win Michigan. I remain impressed that he came out swinging against Governor Granholm in the Michigan debate. And I think this ad reminds people that he's a Michigan guy at heart, with Michigan ties.
It is personal to him. While this ad is really choppy and fast paced, it hits home the point for Michigan that Romney really does connect with the state. I give that high marks.

I like it when a candidate can run his own strengths instead of relying on cutting other people down. When we vote for our candidates, we know that we are voting for principles and well thought-out ideas.
Granholm got elected to two terms as Governor almost solely on attacking others... in 2002 by attacking John Engler (who was term-limited out and not running), and in 2006 by attacking President Bush (who was also not running in the race), Dick DeVos (whom, surprisingly, was running... maybe somebody should've told him), and the entire nation of China.
That being said, Michigan is a complete toss-up due to the fact that the Democrat candidates kinda punted their primary (most of the front-runners not even appearing on the ballot) and the Republican primary (which happens to be an open primary) may be flooded with I's and D's voting. In other words, all bets are off.
Romney is running a strong campaign here, with good organization and plenty of ads... now if he'd run more than the one ad over and over again in the Wolverine State. That being said, I have a feeling that the open primary nature will be as much of a boon to Huckabee as it was to McCain in 2000, the only difference being that McCain doesn't sound like Dick Gephardt circa 1988.

Heck, I's start a fund right now... Romney for Governor of Michigan!!
I'll be proud to be his Memphis, TN coordinator!
I even like the fact that it's a little choppy and unpolished - seems almost un-Mitt, like you said - personal.
FWIW, Romney's radio spots in the New Hampshire area are similar (jump from topic to topic, a little choppy, though targeted at national issues and not NH specifically) but not his TV ads. I wish he'd go with this more and the polished, Mitt-like glossy stuff less.

Was Mitt running for President all the way back in 1978?
"Mitt Romney went a step further in a 1978 interview with the Boston Herald. Talking about the Mormon Church and racial discrimination, he said: 'My father and I marched with Martin Luther King Jr. through the streets of Detroit.'"
From Boston Globe today.
This is a bit more than parsing the word "see". The Romney campaign has already acknowledged that that the 1978 statement is not true. Good for them, parsing the word "marched" would have been too Clintonesque.
It seems they are parsing only as those lies that relate to lies made by Romney two weeks ago. So much for the "big" speech.
Well, actually it's neither.

It's just about a home town boy who makes good... but exaggerated about his exploits back home a little too much.
I was being kind in not relating too much to the ad... I would hope that most here can juxtapose truthfulness and pandering.

If you notice the MITT HATERS can NEVER dispute policy. They have to talk about his landscapers, him being Mormon and now his father who was strong in the civil rights movement.
When I talk about Huckabee it's about increasing spending from 6 to 16 billion dollars or 1033 pardons including 12 murderers.
If the G.O.P. loses this election it will not be for lack of a candidate but BIGOTRY. If Romney was an ex-Evangelical Governor from SC with his resume this race would have been decided months ago. It's sad to see that the G.O.P. is so UNENLIGHTENED. This party is full of CAVE DWELLERS who are still stuck in the darkness of FEAR and IGNORANCE. These people really HATE Romney and it stems from BIGOTRY against his religion. SHAMEFUL!!
When someone tried to tie Obama to Islam, the democrats rejected it and when Harry Reid was picked as Majority Leader not a mention of him being Mormon. I'm just truly suprised to see so many CAVE DWELLERS in the G.O.P.
Would explain *CLUB FOR GREED* a whole lot *OVERPAID CEOS* about the *IRAN IS LIKE A SISTER WE HAVEN'T TALKED TO IN A WHILE* Huckabee campaign.

One thing that will probably hurt Romney is that there is no real Democratic primary in Michigan this year (everyone but Mike Gravel and Hillary Clinton are boycotting). I'm guessing that will lead to a healthy number of independents and Democrats asking for Republican primary ballots, which might help the guy that won there in 2000 (largely because of the support of those independent and Democrat votes).

I've always been confused as to why Mitt doesn't push his business background more while campaigning. It's one of those things that dramatically sets him apart from the others in the field.
I feel you on the incessant need to defend Mitt Romney and how sometimes he says things that comeback to haunt him. That is annoying at best. However I do think he is getting a bad rap on all this.
All of these attacks intend to put his integrity in question and make him appear insincere. Did he say one thing to Massachusetts voters and then do another? No, he governed conservatively yet kept all his campaign promises. He has been successful in business and politics as a bringer of change (as his campaign likes to say), and this is exactly what we can count on him to do.
He has a beautiful family, and is by all accounts an honorable family man and an honorable member of his church (and this nothing to scoff at as the LDS hold their members to extremely high moral standards of honesty and integrity). The bottom line is what he is promising to bring as president he will deliver on, as his resume flawlessly shows. Politics is messy and he is trying to "sell himself" to the public, lets hope he quits tripping up along the way.
