Kennedy Withdraws Support For Kerry

Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy dropped his public commitment to support Senator John Kerry in the 2008 presidential campaign:

Kennedy said he doesn't currently plan to endorse another candidate and still might support Kerry if Kerry decides to run. But in an hourlong interview with the Globe's Washington bureau, Kennedy offered strong praise for two of Kerry's possible presidential rivals: senators Barack Obama of Illinois and Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, calling them "formidable figures" who are connecting with rank-and-file Democrats.

Kennedy's withdrawal of support means we should read more into Kerry's decision to delay announcing his intentions about running for president in 2008. Kerry is not going to overcome the political fallout from his comment insulting U.S. troops just days before midterm elections. He should quit while he is behind.

Perhaps Kennedy can do us a favor and very publicly back the dem nominee in the next Presidential election. You may have noticed in the just past election that the more prominent of the moonbats hid until election day. Hey, every little bit helps.

Doesn't this actually help Kerry's chances in '08? :)

After the 2006 elections, al Qaeda released a statement saying they were happy Democrats won. That should tell you all you need to know.

I have discounted a Kerry nomination, even the moonbats are tired of him. Kerry winning the nomination would be too good to be true. After the dem nominee is selected, perhaps we can get a 2 for 1 in moonbatism and have Kennedy AND Kerry very publicly back the nominee. Ok, I'm fantasizing here, the Dem leadership will ship them off to Europe or Massachussetts (Sorry, that was redundant) and keep them out of the spotlight. Hey, a man can dream.

Kerry's numbers were pretty bad before the anti-soldier comments, so the proximate cause of his failure is simply that no one liked him for 2008. He's factually a loser and liberals can't win (see: Dem takeover of Congress in 2006).

I am actually perhaps one of the few who believes that his joke was botched, but his response to the failed joke, combined with his patrician image, are what did him in. It is too bad, though, that he isn't running again. Would be a good opportunity to re-Swift boat him. Those allegations were anything but bogus. I'm concerned that the conventional wisdom is morphing the Swift Boat topic into a bogus charge.

...So why doesn't someone get some comment from the North Viet Cong leadership of the early 1970's? It would be very interesting to hear from them - how wonderful Hanoi John's "PEACE DISCOURSE" must have been in those Paris meetings!
