McCain Trying To Shut Out More Party Chairs

The Sonoran Alliance has the scoop on this. It seems "Grassroots Arizona", a PAC, has been seeded by two Democrats from San Francisco -- over 40% of the money. NOw the PAC is targetting the GOP chairman of the 11th District in Arizona. What's the McCain connection?

Well, the first two donors to the PAC were Jane Lynch, the PAC treasurer, and Paul Hickman, McCain's Chief of Staff. According to the Sonoran Alliance:

The purpose of the PAC seems to have been to get PC’s elected in LD 11 that would support someone besides Rob Haney as chairman. The PAC also mailed out a letter to LD 11 PC’s in support of Fife Symington for chairman. The letter was signed by Jon Kyl, John Shadegg, Jeff Flake, Rick Renzi, and several other Republicans from Arizona.

And who are the Democrats from San Francisco? They are Greg and Lisa Wendt, who have backed such rising Democrat stars as

Ron Wyden, Max Cleland, Barack Obama, Diane Feinstein, and Claire McCaskill, among many other Democrats. So how does a big time Democrat donor from San Francisco end up funding a PAC set up to target a legislative district chairman in North-Central Phoenix? Perhaps the answer comes from one of the very few Republicans that Mr. Wendt has supported, John McCain.

Not surprising there is Dim money in his Pac - I'm SHOCKED it is only 40% of it, though.

He is obviously trying to shut out all competition before anyone else can get their foot in the door, once he's got the primary sewed up, he knows he'll have plenty of Dim votes to keep him floating.

If the National GOP does NOTHING about this, on top of them jerking the rug out from under so many healthy GOP Conservatives the last few elections, and after the Arizona GOP Caucus begging them to move on McCain in his last election as Senator, then the GOP can write off the '08 Election unless God Himself together with natural forces to restore the will of the VOTING BASE to the leadership decisions at GOP.

THAT would be the biggest miracle I have ever seen in my life and would have to go up there with the Parting of the Red Sea.

What is it that Kyl, Flake, and Shadegg are supporting? Is it different than McCain's position?

Kyl, Flake, Shaddeg and a handful of other prominent Arizona Republicans asked Legislative District 11 Precinct Committeemen to vote against the incumbent anti-McCain District Chairman (this being McCain's home district). It failed spectacularly.

72 years old in 2008. Can he get even crankier???

Just more of the same from McCain.

Seriously, can anyone name a time when McCain went against the Democrats? So, is it any surprise that his key allies are Democrats?

If McCain gets the Republican nomination, I'll vote for the real Democrat--at least I know what I'm getting and the proper party will get the blame as the socialism rolls in.

How 'bout campaigning tirelessly for Bush in '04. What about his support for the war on terror and his call for VICTORY in Iraq? And finally what about his call to stop pork barrel spending? (whoops--that last one members of his own party are just as guilty of)

“I am fully prepared to be commander in chief, ... I don't need on-the-job training.” John McCain

Is that why after making his speech at the RNC he went on television and praised John Kerry and made it a point to say how great of a guy Kerry was and how they were good friends?

Is that why McCain had to actually consider, multiple times, becoming John Kerry's running mate instead of just telling him not only no, but...

Is that why McCain campaigned hard against the Swiftboat Veterans when they began damaging Kerry's campaign?

Is that why McCain spoke on many occassions and said Kerry would make a good, fine president?

Is that why McCain rebuffed Bush when Bush said electing Kerry would make America less secure, saying that Kerry would make America just as secure?

Yeah... sounds like he tirelessly campaigned for Bush, there... ugh. Wonder what it would have looked like if he tirelessly campaigned for Kerry?

In all reality, he had his foot in both worlds during the 2004 election - just like he tries to do with everything to maintain his "maverick" credentials. He was hedging his bets, maybe hoping for a cabinet position in a Kerry administration should Kerry have won.

After the 2006 elections, al Qaeda released a statement saying they were happy Democrats won. That should tell you all you need to know.

Saying he fully supports the war on terror and has never backed down to Democrats on that issue is simply laughable and ludicrous. McCain has been one of the weakest members of the GOP caucas on the War on Terror, from his torture legislation to his blasting of Rumsfeld to his denigrating Bush on national tv time after time on Iraq. It's disgusting. But the fact that you put VICTORY in all capital letters and bold typeface shows me that McCain really means well.

Molerat McCain should switch to the Party of his kind.

Everyone in Arizona knows he'll be trusting to Dim crossover votes anyway!

is probably the scariest thing I've read. He was pilot, a POW and a naval officer (who I believe retired at the rank of Captain) 30+ years ago. He's been in Congress ever since.

Every CinC needs OTJ training. To think otherwise is the height of egotism. Oh yeah, it's McCain we're talking about huh.

It kind of reminds me of '64, when Goldwater's people took over the organizational committees and control the delegates, winning him the nomination with only one formal major primary victory.

Interesting. From his Senate seat successor too!

He cannot win the General Election.

People like me, millions of us, will not vote for him NO MATTER WHAT!

He belongs in Hanoi John's camp!

John McCain is an honorable man. He served in Vietnam honorably. Kerry is not and did not.

I take second spot to no one, you included, in my disdain for McCain's policy positions or his lack of executive experience. That said, I won't let you get away with a cheap shot like this one.

Feel free to focus on McCain's positions and his legislative history. Don't ever question his honor again.

Sen. McCain did accuse our volunteers in this war of torturing detainees. That was a pretty low blow, I thought.

IMO, he never even got close to Kerry's work in the early '70's.

Nor even does McCain compare with what Kerry said in THIS war, if you recall when Kerry accused the Army of terrorizing children.

POW or not, questions remain regarding his conduct, which are justified, not only by his conduct THEN, but even more so by his conduct THEN.

When North Vietnamese officials enter the room and McCain is the first to run and give them a BIG HUG...

When a POW, who should be the FIRST to understand the critcal need to win a war against a certain type of enemy, and takes MONTHS to decide if he'll be the running mate of a man who says HIS FIRST ITEM TO DO IN OFFICE IMMEDITATELY AFTER INAUGURATION is to DISMANTLE our Bunker Buster Program - IN ORDER TO SHOW NORTH KOREA HOW TO DISARM....

You take your royal indignation and go light a cigar with it.

This man wants the highest office in the world so bad he reminds some of us country folk of a rabid animal in search of another animal to bite.

He isn't using that desire to focus his attentions on hauling himself up to his full height, and making sure he is "presenting" Presidential material.

Did you forget your ritalin, Rose?

To me, a very select group has standing to criticize McCain on his performance as a POW. That would be those that served longer in enemy custody, with more grit and more broken bones.

You are not adding to the quality of discourse here.

If my vote counts, BLAM!

So you're saying John McCain has ABSOLUTE MORAL AUTHORITY?

...and I'll try to avoid YELLING BACK AT YOU...

I'm extremely troubled by McCain's politics. I am not a fan. And I in no way implied that he's above criticism.

What I do think is extremely unfair is to sit in judgment of his actions as a POW, or to take thirty-five year old enemy propaganda footage and somehow use it against him.

I probably would have been singing like a canary, under the same circumstances.

Parallel situation: I was too young by a couple of years to have served in Vietnam. I respect and honor the fact that John Kerry served. I will not criticize him for his combat actions in country, because I have no idea what I would have done differently. The Swift Boat guys? Have at him. Criticizing soldiers & throwing away his medals once he got back? Fair game. The man's a turd.

Or a one/two month posting ban.

Just my opinion.

Her posts on this thread do a disservice to this site's reputation.

THE SHOUTING, her confusion as to the facts (claiming that Dole beat Gingrich, Kemp and McCain in the primaries), or do you suspect that she is plant sent over by Kos?

You probably read about the guy who advocated tattooing Muslims on talk radio to see what sort of reaction he would get. Do you think she might be up to something similar?
